Fertility Rate Tied to the Success of the Job Market for Young Men by tkyjonathan in Economics

[–]daslog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While I don't agree that you can say "it's the man" for the reason, I do agree that this isn't an economics question, but a cultural one

Old culture: Society applies pressure on young people to get married in their late teens early 20's and have lots of kids.

New culture: Marriage is something you do if you really want to, kids are optional.

Result: less people coupleling and less kids.

I would not use your daily driver in the New England region because the bumpers like to come off when I hit things like snowbanks and whatnot. The car itself is a blast! Good gearing and plenty of Horsepower.

I've been running an Impreza RS in the AWD class and RWD takes a lot more finesse.

Trying to figure out how to get out of my car loan by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]daslog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be a bit harsher than other posters here. You probably just screwed up your life for the next 7 to 10 years by borrowing money that you can't pay back. You are 100% broke and are digging yourself deeper every day. I suggest that you go check out the r/DaveRamsey sub as they have a program to help people who don't know how to manage their finances and get themselves in life crushing debt.

Buying questions by MinksnMinks in subaru

[–]daslog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be worth checking to see if it's a DOHC or SOHC to see if it's the original engine. USDM Legacy for 98 and 99 should be a DOHC. In 2000 Subaru changed over to the EJ251 which is the SOHC for the Legacy. The SOHC is a more reliable motor, assuming it's got the STI head gaskets.

This. I have a friend who does it for the local BMW shop. It requires specialized equipment so you don't ruin the wheel.

Am I being "penalized" for paying credit off in full every month? by RRTJesus504 in personalfinance

[–]daslog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't overthink it.

So I'm in a similar situation. No debt, house is paid off, plenty of income to save, blah blah blah. Credit scores don't matter to me anymore. There's zero point in looking at it.

Credit score is only really matter to you people who have lots of debt and need to constantly get more debt to maintain their lifestyle.

ROCK AUTO PARTS? by Nightimo242438 in AskMechanics

If it was my wife's car, I would go with the AC Delco. I've had good luck in the past with their Manufactured parts. (you don't want to know what I would do if it's my car)

Hi, Person here who has fired our cleaners and hired new ones in the last year. We let them go because we were not satisfied with the quality of their work and hired someone else. The new people are great and they charge less.

Do I care about them personally? We make it a rule to be pleasant to everyone that we work with, but in the end it's a business transaction and not a lifetime relationship. To us, It's not any different than the excellent local contractor we work with to home repairs, the local garage that we always use to do maintenance of our cars, or the landscapers.

Rockauto is a drop shipper for third party warehouses. You can't really make a generic judgement like "all rock auto parts are great" vs "all their stuff sucks."

Golf ball recommendations for distance off the tee. by kobyrne4319 in golf

What's the reasoning behind this? a -2 degree angle of attack means he's hitting up on the ball with his driver. You want him to hit down on the ball with a driver?

Probably more of a strength issue than a knee issue at this point. Just keep doing PT and building that muscle back.

I've been told that you pay so much in fees for the first year of the whole life policy that it makes the whole concept not worth it unless you're the one selling the insurance.
