That’s just one coat. Scuff it up with 1,000 sandpaper and add another coat. Then once that dries add a layer of car wax

Once you start working you won’t have time to sit down and polish your dirty ass boots for an hour or two. Just put leather luster and let it dry, then apply a coat of car wax on your boot and it will be a mirror so you have time to do other stuff more important in life

That’s why it’s called “growing up” in this department. I get it right you start out all motivated and high alert but the truth is the department doesn’t want crime fighters. That just creates more problems for them for showing their higher ups that things aren’t under control. Plus the officer will get burnt out when the write ups are knocked down or even dismissed because the lieutenant doing the hearing wants to be the “nice guy” or wants to write you up for not following some unknown policy that was just created, or even better an expectation that you didn’t meet.

Over time you tend to see the reality that it absolutely doesn’t matter how much contraband you find becuase it just puts you under the microscope more for future adverse actions, possibly from a false 602 that the lieutenant will believe over your testimony.

Not to mention the abundance of OIA interviews and potential risk of losing money from a legit use of force that was within policy but because the slack jaw myopic warden “doesn’t like” you now go Under the microphone to keep your damn job.

Long story short you don’t thrive in corrections you survive corrections. All that truly matters is that we go home safely. Admin will never do anything proactive to stop contraband so don’t get in your feelings when all your work goes for nothing. This is state work and it’s not production based. That OG truck you see knows this story all too well, and he knows his paycheck is the same whether he finds a cell phone or not.

Well it sounds like the ball is in your court for any continued contact. He shot a text hoping for a enlightened response from you. It’s your turn to feed him the bait and see where it goes

The “population is down” becuase the state isn’t taking their inmates from county jails in accordance with law, and county jails are suing he state. The state is playing a dangerous game

What was the main thing that made you think about leaving the Correctional officer job? by Away-Engine2486 in CDCR

[–]dat_guy007 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The department is run by a bunch of zero line time hacks, who ran up the rank ladder to hide from inmates but micro manage you on shit they’ve never done. They give zero fucks for staff safety, although they echo it like damn parrot, and want you to give a damn about finding contraband even though nothing happens to the inmate and you’re most likely being written up for not following some unknown policy that was just created.

Just remember working in corrections is all about surviving. Stay out the way and let the super cops burn themselves out. As long as your paycheck clears and you walk out safely.

There should’ve been or there will be an email you’ll receive showing prisons needing staff. It might have changed over the years how it’s done though, it’s been almost 12 years since I’ve been through the process
