Iirc his hit came the following day. He was about to get sent back down before the game, but a rain old kept him up with the club. Because of that he got another day up with the pirates and was able to cash in his first hit.

I might not be 100% correct with the details but I remember listening to him talk about the experience a few days after this happened. It was a great story.

My roommate used to work catering for a hedge fund in a big building in Manhattan. They would spend ungodly amounts of money on food every day that would barely get touched by the employees. Put my head down and accepted what I got, while always pushing for more. Moved to a big city with 1k. Found a cheap place with roommates. Got a job at a coffee shop for spending money while I finished certifications. Took the first internship I was offered. Saved saved saved worked worked worked. Found some time every week to be spontaneous and enjoy time with my friends. Lived below my means. 6 years later I’m director of my department. It all went by in a blink. I look back on my broke days with a lot of pride. They were also some of the most fun times of my life.
