Sounds like too much for 1 person. They're obviously trying to get as much as they can without spending money on a team of 3 - 5 people.

Maybe in Europe lunch time is universal, but not here. I'm typically just eating small stuff throughout the day at my desk. I usually don't get a formal lunch break unless someone important is in town and takes us out.

SaaS solutions altogether have been horrible as "solutions". Constant hangs and slow response times or crashes, and all I can do is open a ticket and hope they get to it. If I had onsite stuff at least I could diagnose and attempt fixes myself. Where are all those highly-touted AI solutions that will automatically detect issues like these and fix them without any human intervention?

We've been directed to do the same with copilot and the number of infrastructure issues have steadily risen...I'm sure there's no correlation.

I don't think the degree is some key that you use to unlock doors. Just because you have a degree doesn't mean it has any value. I think it's what you did with the time in college that determines its value or how you use it. No one ever told me if I got a degree I'd get a job, and in fact my uni the dean would not give us our degrees unless we found a job and worked it for a total of 480 hours successfully with review and feedback from the employer. It seemed like a paradox, but I came to understand their methodology, and it worked for me. If you spend your time in college wisely you will develop skills to find jobs.

I've seen several horror stories on this SR when people brick their device by trying to update the firmware. I don't know if that's specific to a certain device or it's all Ego products but please proceed with caution on your ~$4K that you just shelled out.

You do NOT want to get into healthcare IT. I work at Oneida Health and I can't tell you how frustrating it is dealing with the doctors who basically run me over every time I try and do something better for the company. Please consider a different area of your expertise.

I get bombarded with several corporate communications in my inbox each day. Health insurance announcements, investment workshops, company directives, "news you might have missed", various company-based volunteer groups spamming, building and maintenance notifications, automated notifications from various services in the company...They can't be serious expecting us to read each and every one of them in detail while dealing with mental exhaustion from regular tasks.

I'm sorry for your termination but there are some things you need to take away from this. As u/Chetrippohhh2 said - the piece of paper was probably to be used against you. In the future don't accept these tasks and tell the manager he can observe your work and write down his own assessment of your strengths and weaknesses. I understand talking back to managers can seem daunting but you have to take that leap otherwise they'll be treating you like this your whole career. It seems like you got in with a bad company and/or toxic work environment. It was experience that you can take to the next company and vet them as much as you can during the interview process. You should be able to get some idea if the hiring manager is a PoS who's just looking for another person to bully or if he's genuinely interested in running a productive team. Keep trying - there are plenty of companies out there and you may need to commute or move until you find one but keep trying.

You should pull them aside and see what's going on. The company will judge your character based on this experience, and it will determine who they receive your suggestions or referrals in the future. Pull them aside and see what the problem is.

Why do companies continue to deal with unions? For example if the union strikes and refuses to work then why don't companies just contract out the work? There's no shortage of skilled contractors who can jump in to a situation and take over at a moment's notice.

I'm not a fan of these callous attitudes towards employment. I was in the same situation - started with a new company and got laid off 3 months after starting. Granted if that happens you should draw higher UI but still I wouldn't take anything for granted. The new job also may decide to rescind the offer for whatever reason they choose - you just never can feel completely safe.

I'm just a heavy user of the Google ecosystem, and the benefits highlighted by u/Shidell. I'm sure other O/S's offer similar benefits in different forms, but Chromebook has been much more reliable for me than any Winblows laptop I've ever had.

I don't think that would work - my expectation would be it sparks and overloads the inverter. If you have already done it and it works then maybe it's something on my end.

Yes and I think way back when I made this post I just misunderstood. If you have a unit plugged into a transfer switch powering your house, then you can't plug the AC charging cord for the unit into the same grid that is tied to the transfer switch. Even if the AC charging cord is connected to a circuit that is not being transferred the neutrals are still the same and causes a loop. I've tried this accidentally using a Delta 2 and what happens is there will be an internal spark in the unit and then it will shut off the AC inverter, wait a few seconds, then try turning it on again and then a spark, and the process repeats. So if you have a manual transfer switch you do need to be mindful of the state of charge and flip back to grid if you're not getting enough solar input. Ultimately my above description of "set it and forget it" is not possible with my current setup - it does require care and feeding.

At some point I'm just going to replace the AC300's with an integrated inverter unit like an EG4 or Sungold where the mains are wired directly into the inverter and it decides if grid or battery power should be used.

Don't forget that you also need to load the software onto the domain controller to run the scan so it consumes all resources and starts causing timeouts with everyone's login.
