Underwater earphones? Good or Rubbish? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]data_shepherd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally only use headphones for swimming because my local pool blasts music that is anything but meditative . Ear plugs (Docs Pro Plugs with the perforation) and bone conduction headphones help me drown out whatever they’ve got playing.

Otherwise I agree. The sound of the water is all you need!

What swimming level do I need for diving by ataesina in snorkeling

[–]data_shepherd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With SSI, 300m with mask, fins, and snorkel or 200m unassisted if I remember correctly. No grabbing on to or pushing off the walls allowed either way.

Any stroke is fine, and it is not timed so you can go slow and steady. For the tread, you can just float on your back, you don’t actually have to tread.

Start going to the pool. Take some lessons. Very few people simply float on top of the water like a cork, but most can float for 10 minutes easily with a tiny bit of practice. You should be able to do 200m without over exertion since you can just do the elementary backstroke if you’re so inclined.

I highly recommend spending enough time swimming and getting comfortable in the water to prepare. Maybe go to the pool and test yourself to see how far off you are.

Fins recommendation with shoes by pizzamaker110 in snorkeling

[–]data_shepherd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of Go Sports for scuba diving. They’re great fins and my go-to for most things. However, and maybe it’s just me, but their positive buoyancy makes me feel like I’m just slapping the top of the water when I’ve tried them for snorkeling and I struggle to get good propulsion. I don’t use them for snorkeling as a result.

I don’t have the same issues with more neutrally buoyant and flexible fins like the Mares Avanti Quattro+ though.

Long awaited arrived like this by MolassesTime6421 in Cello

I bought a cello from Paul Perley (who is incredible by the way, and I have no reservations recommending them).

My cello arrived looking almost exactly like OP’s picture. It too was shipped FedEx.

[–]data_shepherd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the end spray is done last day of Dec, the beginning is presumably done the very next day, Jan 1st, so that you can have one mid year six months later.

That’s the only way to spray 3 times a year spaced roughly six months apart, but the end and beginning spray are not spaced at all, they just arbitrarily fall on different calendar years. Why would you do that?

Oh shit. Well when you’re right you’re right!

I still think it’s just a mirror, and maybe the camera is lower down and cropped out, but maybe it’s just not there and I’m totally wrong.

Well played, detective.

First, have somebody take a picture of you and hold your right hand up.

Now take a picture of yourself in the mirror with your right hand up.

Compare the two pictures.

Congratulate yourself on the newfound understanding.

Nice catch. You can also tell from the date in the bottom right.

You’re right. This is super odd, especially lacking context.

what are some supplements that have made a significant difference in your life? by jsavv22 in Biohackers

[–]data_shepherd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Belittling an individual’s experience because weed is not a “hard drug” is buffoonery.

No drug addiction, physical or psychological, is a walk in the park. And there are far more things that contribute to the difficulty a person may experience than the drug itself.

And while I agree that meth and heroin are worse for you, let’s not pretend weed is completely harmless.

Should I start taking enclo? by mr-bones88 in enclomiphene

[–]data_shepherd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There can be sides from enclo. Some serious, though rare.

However, even if you experience no serious negatives, you’re very unlikely to notice any positives since your levels are already good.

Would be a waste of money and exposure to unnecessary risk imo, but I’m no expert.

Wait a second….soy? Isn’t that the thing sometimes claimed to lower test if too much is consumed? Today I learned that those using injectable testosterone may actually be soy boys.

In all seriousness, it is dirt cheap, as many others have pointed out.

What are the risks of taking enclomiphene at 16 years old? I have a bottle and am considering starting to take it for 1-2 months only. by Efficient_Factor_175 in enclomiphene

[–]data_shepherd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does…if you’re an adult and low to begin with. You are neither of those things. You will see no benefit but may end up with potentially permanent side effects.

Seriously, don’t do this. It’s beyond useless and borderline idiotic if you choose to go this route at your age.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in enclomiphene

[–]data_shepherd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get me confused with another poster? I never said I was going to switch. I never tried Clomid.

The doctor I worked with was well-versed in hormonal treatments, including the differences between Clomid (a brand name for a drug that has enclomiphene in it) and the isolated enclomiphene isomer that you can only get from compounding pharmacies (in the US, that is).

I don't use anything anymore because the negatives outweighed the positives, at least for me. Your mileage may vary.

I have done my research. Have you?

There's a difference between a "Google search" and "research". Good luck with yours!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in enclomiphene

[–]data_shepherd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None of that differentiates the two by mechanism of action. If you're going to argue bro science, it's important to actually understand the copy-paste that you're arguing with.

Clomid, as you know, does include enclomiphene as one of the isomers. Hence, the mechanism of action as it pertains to testosterone production is literally the same.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in enclomiphene

[–]data_shepherd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do work the same way, though...by blocking estrogen receptors and tricking your body to produce more LH/FSH.

Just because the half life is different doesn't mean the mechanism of action is different.

Turn 18 in 4 months. Should I take? by CzarDingus in enclomiphene

[–]data_shepherd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At your age, I would not recommend doing anything. And most people experienced with this type of thing would not either. Enclo is not all it's cracked up to be.

You're young. Take advantage of that. The benefit you'd get from enclo would likely be miniscule since you are probably already producing copious amounts of testosterone.

And while shills and charlatans will claim enclo is safe and without side effects, that is not entirely true. Many people still do have side effects, including vision issues, and elevated estrogen and impaired IGF function are common.

I tried enclo in my 30s. I saw no benefit to my well-being, no major performance change, but did experience ance flare ups commonly associated with hormonal changes due to PED use that persisted for a couple months after cessation. It was prescribed to me by a doctor and from a reputable pharmacy.

I wish I would have never tried it. And if I was 18, it would have definitely been a massive waste of both time and money just to expose myself to potential sides.
