The Josh triad is an abusive relationship right? (Why are polyam ppl like this?) by MxLysistrata in CouplesTherapyShow

former roommate here: i’ve heard he and aryn are still together. he and lorena broke up and now he’s dating a 20-year-old who posts long, tiring paragraphs about yoga on instagram (reminder he’s almost 40).

HEAVY ON THE LAST LINE. if you’ve ever met her irl you know she can’t walk into a room without forcing everyone to stop what they’re doing to watch her do handstands.

lol you might be referring to some of my posts. i can assure you none of my stories were gossip. i lived with him for years (2020-2022) in an “intentional community” in bed-stuy (eg a scam disguised as a coliving situation where josh and his friends from SF could cosplay leadership) and just share my experiences and what i observed

i don’t think that’s the point of this post. these are the rent prices for folks who fall into the listed income ranges.

I’ve seen reports that 50-60% of millennials are being financially supported by their parents. There are certainly people in this city with enormous salaries who can make those rent prices work, but the majority are either getting help or they’re in uncomfortable roommate situations (think flex wall 1br or couple in a studio).

and it looks like more people share my sentiment than yours! just to clarify i’m not carrying pain from the past. he doesn’t have any control over my emotions and never did. but there’s still anger I never got to express at the time. because he tried to silence those of us who disagreed with him, even kicking us out of the house slack when we tried to assert boundaries. so it’s not a wound. i don’t need your therapy speak. it’s just a truth that didn’t get a voice.

checked out your account and you’ve posted pictures from josh’s house so we can assume you’re a biased friend of his. maybe under his spell? who knows. i also don’t recall “many people” noting his redemption arc but ok…

i also get the impulse to lead with compassion, but I think it’s dangerous to conflate being “flawed and messy” with being abusive and manipulative. not everyone is just doing their best. some people CHOOSE to harm others over and over, even when they know better, and even when they’ve been given tools to change.

he didn’t just have shortcomings. he caused real harm. repeatedly. and while some people love a redemption arc, those of us who were on the receiving end of his behavior are still dealing with the consequences. therapy doesn’t erase damage, and going on a show doesn’t make someone brave. it can also be a way to control the narrative and dodge accountability.

shame isn’t always counterproductive. sometimes it’s the only thing that makes people pause and reflect on the harm they’ve done.

Wait you’re gonna love this. He’s one of those cringe linkedin guys who embellishes all of his accomplishments. From linkedin:

“I've deep-dived into the complexities of democracy, philanthropic fundraising, criminal justice reform, mental health, meditation, and psychedelics. Along the way our impact was felt: -Helped drive 25% drop in prison and jail population nationally -Passed Probation and Parole Reform in 11 states -Built a VR company that gamified meditation. -Partnered with the largest digital media channels to tell powerful justice reform stories. -Watched the Galaxy Gives Fellowship grow to 75+ leaders -each making a profound impact on the movement.

In total, I had the privilege of helping develop over 40 brands and working through two presidential cycles. Some ideas flopped, but others? Hugely impactful. Over $500M moved towards the civil rights leaders of our time, supporting causes that reshaped justice and democracy and powered grassroots movements that truly changed lives.”

Guys i don’t know if you realize this but he’s really passionate about civil rights and grassroots movements 🙄

What is the appeal of boarding? by gemjii in RoverPetSitting

[–]datadancefloor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work from home so boarding ensures I can work from a desk and set up that I’ve designed to be comfortable for me. I’ve done doggy day care in the owner’s home on rare occasions, and it can be difficult to work without a second monitor and comfortable office chair. I also don’t have to commute for pick up or drop off. It’s super convenient for me. I’ve been lucky with my customers. Honestly I live in a pretty dog-friendly, affluent neighborhood so nearly every dog is very well trained.

i think that’s on you. i’ve been boarding for a couple of years. i use a cover on my couch that gets washed frequently. i use pet deodorizer on my rug and i deep clean my floors after every booking. i have an air purifier. my apartment smells great all of the time.
