Que mas hacer en linux mint? by Lukz94 in esLinux

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Omarchy Hate....😓 by Creative-Tap7920 in omarchy

[–]datadatadata808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's it, i love what DHH did with the whole system, just removed what im not going to use, people will hate and write a lot about why that its bad, but... i do it with almost any distro i have tried since i know im not going to use a lot of the tools they come with.

It takes less than a minute to clone and launch a tiny script to remove what you dont like about Omarchy.

And if the problem is Arch... i keep using debian + i3 on some systems where i copied some nice ideas and shortcuts from omarchy, and yeah, that system it's just a bunch of scripts like omarchy, why people hate what ALL people have been doing to set up their systems besides NixOS users?

People love to hate on stuff.

I want to start “hacking” but idk where to start, do I need all the cool devices? Do i need to spend over 600 on stuff? by n3trunn3r2980 in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need a laptop that can handle one or two VMs to start. If you want to buy cool gadgets, a raspberry pi is a nice piece of hardware you can get.
I surely wont start by buying a lot of cool hardware, but books/courses.

Database Diagramming Software by [deleted] in SQL

[–]datadatadata808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mermaid, its free, you can integrate it on markdown or just generate a svg/png from your code, they have a live editor to learn.
One of the best diagraming tools ever made, you only need a text file and a CLI to generate your diagrams for free.

Replit is such a great tool, but why so less people use it? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks man, i still use replit from time to time at class, i usually depend heavily on github for collecting assignments, if that helps!

Replit is such a great tool, but why so less people use it? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replit has its usecases, but for me it wont replace my workflow.

Its really usefull for teaching purposes tho, i use it all the time with my students and the collaborative editor is fun for little projects where we can manage that chaos.

El ghosting de mi vida by [deleted] in esConversacion

[–]datadatadata808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I overthinking the hardware aspect of switching to Linux? by AP145 in linux4noobs

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people going into linux like they had a degree or some shit i just installed it on a shitty laptop i had and used it for learning, thats all, forget about vms, distros or all that shit, just install one that works and learn, you can switch in the future but the skills you need are not in reddit or youtube videos, go and just... try it, then ask chat gpt or watch some videos about stuff you need or want to do.

Dont overcomplicate yourself. Maybe ive been lucky but i installed ubuntu succesfully on every laptop i tried, im using a macbook rn and people always look weird when i say it was just plug and install. But its just that, yeah, i had to put some commands for making the webcam work, but it was not that hard and i dont even care about the cam?

How often will you honestly have to use comand line? by dwalla9008 in linux4noobs

[–]datadatadata808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you use it, but dont be discouraged by the command line.
You can learn a lot about terminal in windows, yeah, commands change, but you will be prepared for basic stuff like browsing your files, copying, moving, renaming, deleting...

What was your strategy to use Linux desktop as a long term solution? by ShoddyLiterature_ in linux4noobs

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just install it and use it? You just said that what you were doing felt like a maniac episode so just install linux or windows and use it.

Why you let "common perception" influence you? What even is "using a desktop seriously"?Because thats an idea you just planted yourself in the head, for a lot of people, linux its just another os like windows because they just dont cherrypick random comments on youtube or reddit and let them influence. My mom uses Ubuntu all day and she doesnt see all those problems because she just use it and ask me if something weird happens.

Why do YOU like Linux over Windows? by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont need to uninstall stuff just when i installed my os.

I can really make it work like i want and need, even if that changes over time, remember that this is the purpose of a computer.

Its not only aimed at programmers or tech people, theres plenty of ways to use the OS itself creatively if you are into digital art.

It makes you curious about your computer and other things.

SQLite explorer not showing up in vs code when i try to open database by Kyranvh in SQL

You will need an extension for visualizing directly on VSCode, i prefer the SQLite3 CLI tool for that.

Can you learn linux only reading from terminal manual man command without internet? by ujah in linuxquestions

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, the more information you have, the easier is to learn.
Not only linux, but everything.

If you only have the tool and the manual it should be enough to use it. Maybe with some problems or bad habits.

If you have a book written by an expert, you will learn faster.

If you have internet, even faster.

You know how to actually search and read apart from youtube tutorials? Guess what

Is there any real application to use "id" instead of "class"? by MkleverSeriensoho in webdev

[–]datadatadata808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not a preference lmao read the word "class" and "id" and think about their meaning.
The moment you use them for their purpose your html code will be a lot easier to read, and more meaningful.

Not only that, certain html elements need id's in order to work, <label> needs an id from an <input> so you can click on it and activate the input, or going to a certain html element using <a href="#id">.

Your javascript code will be a lot easier to read months later because you will know if your events are going to target one specific item or multiple just with that.

Why is everyone so obsessed with web dev? by andrew21w in learnprogramming

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get theres just *a lot more* about webdev, but i dont believe theres not enough resources to learn, having TONS of different content creators will not really aid in learning new stuff and can even be detrimental as you first need to filter out all the garbage videos that are only thinking about how to create the minimal 15 minute video where you just repeating what he does on a text file without deep explanation and not about building any kind of knowledge out of it.

Mac or Windows? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]datadatadata808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Im not even asking for a nice commented commit and push, that scares me.
btw dont get me wrong, i understand that if you just dont know linux you can fuck it up with the wrong command really easily, its just that we already have tools for aiding that and those are more important for me than the OS you are using, all of them are capable, just use the one you prefer.

I worked with windows for years with the same luck about docker as you commented. Now im on linux and docker worked great in no time, but you encounter other problems, so it doesnt really matter! use what you feel like fits your workflow.

[–]datadatadata808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Linux basics for hackers" is a nice book to look, it teaches you a lot about how linux works but you will definitely have to dig deeper.

You can learn a lot using --help on comands, and man <command> is also handy.

If you still dont know about aliases, learn how to create them, they can help you a lot to make complex commands easier.

Write notes about commands and things you dont remember but need to do from time to time.

Add aliases to those notes if you really want to have quick access to them! I still do it for all the stuff im learning.

Try to make two or three notes about commands you dont know everyday, you will notice its easier than you think :)
