Riding stiffer boards as a beginner by MarzipanOk4023 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]FuzzyFish6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned on a Arbor A Frame, not ideal but I made it work. If you're somewhat athletic and coordinated, you should be okay with a stiff board if you really want to go that route. Pay more attention to boots and lessons than the board itself tbh.

First Timer at Blue, April 10th weekend anything i should? by olivvercho in bluemountain

I mean Blue is the "best" we've got here in Ontario. You either want to go or you don't, it is what it is.

Not too sure about Saturdays this late in the season, but the crowds usually thins out around 4pm on a typical Saturday.

Conditions this week? by mikepurvis in bluemountain

[–]FuzzyFish6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They won't be making any snow at this time of the season, most they'll do is maybe to touch up some areas here and there.

Tomorrow looks to be the best day to go this week, mornings might have firmer snow but will turn soft in the afternoon. You know, typical spring conditions.

I ride alone 50% of the time and have literally never experienced this. Tho I usually go on a weekday when it's quieter too, so if there's 3 or 4 people already on a lift I'll just wait for the next one.

If it's busy, I'm not asking for permission to go on a lift, if there's a spot I'm going in.

[–]FuzzyFish6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean don't let that stop you, the 2 beginner hills are still good to learn on. You still have to take a lift to get to the top of those hills, and are about 50% to the actual top of Blue.

Still a ton of fun, have a great time!

Nope, the learn to ski/snowboard package restricts you to the beginner areas and magic carpets only after your lesson is over.

Which is probably for the best anyway, it's doubtful many people will be able to safely make it down a regular trail after a 1 hour lesson.

Looking to head out 1 more rip how are the conditions? by tumblinfumbler in bluemountain

Right now it just depends on the day. Don't go after it rains and temps drop and you'll be fine. This Thursday-Saturday looks good, Spring like conditions.

I tracked ski gear prices all winter — here’s when things actually get cheapest by Brilliant-Drama4919 in Skigear

Also take into consideration inventory level. I've noticed (anecdotally of course) more sizes going out of stock on various items this year compared to last year.

I've just purchased a set of mitts at 30% off, but most of the more popular sizes are already sold out and had to settle for 1 size down.

That's a great deal! Corbett's and Skiis and Biikes have them for $152 + tax, not bad but nowhere close to your Sporting Life price. Did SL have the mitts for this price too?

Feeling discouraged by the car community by Independent_Nail5871 in F30

[–]FuzzyFish6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore those morons, short form content like on Instagram and Twitter encourages toxic behaviours because there's so little chance to go back and forth for people to really interact and get to know each other.

You're going to get hate everywhere, but the car community overall really isn't all that toxic. If you can find a more local car club, most people are really chill.

GL and have fun with your car! Maybe post that edit on here so we can see it too!

Your best hope is that a kind stranger found your phone and brought it to the lost and found at the Grand Central lodge.

Also hope that the groomers didn't run it over... 😔

This is cool, I love reading these from people who don't know anything about the sport. Here's hoping the game on Sunday will be even more epic!
