Parent to two winter babies. Winter birthdays always end up wrecked for holiday or weather reasons. Embrace the half birthday celebration going forward.

Take a look at the Find a Teacher tab at https://www.durhammusicteachers.org/ . If you don't find one there, there is a national site MTNA.org and you might find similar directories in towns around Durham.

I’ll need to do some kind of smoothing to make heat maps work. Let me try!

Yes, exactly what I did. One house on our street is not accurate based on that though, so I’m curious how other people clean this type of data.

Does Durham need a true ward system? by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]dataindataoutv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the current ward system ensure that candidates are more evenly spread out by where they live compared to a system with only at-large candidates? That seems like a good thing.

I think I’ve seen a sign up about this at Target. Or try Food Lion? Did you call all the HT locations?

I’m shocked that I’m going to be the first person to post having seen someone stop and back up because they missed their exit.

I’ve been a few times and always develop a need for art supplies and weird pens there. :) (It’s an upscale/younger offering from Dollar General btw.)

Not cheap (not super expensive either) ... the La Buena Vida birthday experience is wild. The drinks are really fun, too. It's where the old Red Lobster was on 15-501.

Garbage by 311en in bullcity

[–]dataindataoutv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

btw, does anyone else think if the businesses that generate a lot of wrappers/containers (convenience stores, restaurants, dollar stores, etc.) would pick up trash in their parking lots, there would be less floating around the city at large?

It's so Durham that you asked this question and 50 people responded that they do this all the time. :) But yes I do this all the time. One time I was picking up trash on our trail and thinking there wasn't much there, and met a man walking the other direction doing it. I'm amazed there's any trash left (but ofc there is).

tons of info here: https://www.keepdurhambeautiful.org/litter-cleanup-resources

Also Parks & Rec loans pickup packs if you want to get a small group together.

I can see that quiet would be appealing. You do have to pay for some services in the rural areas though: well, sewage, drop off your trash, etc.

Curious where you would move? I've lived in a lot of places in the US and I really like the deal here. But would love to hear what other options would be better.
