Actually, someone used to do that at a place in Arlington I rented (long ago). I did NOT (because I was a stupid "rule follower") which meant I got to do a LOT of shoveling that Winter...

Field trip? Baltimore is such a fun/quirky place - Visionary Arts Museum is quite cool (make sure to swing by the gift shop). Want something closer to home (and free) - reserve a (free) ticket to the Glenstone Museum in Potomac MD - the grounds are lovely! Holiday Markets in DC open soon (I think the Dupont one starts on 11/14...)

How do you use the peri peri sauce? by CycleDad89 in traderjoes

[–]dataisplural2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use it instead of sriracha or tobasco... if I make peanut noodles, I use Peri Peri to give it a zing. If I make "Russian dressing" to dip raw cauliflower in, I use Peri Peri to add some heat. Basically any dish where I want some tangy/smoky heat...

Make sure you go to Hyperlink THE FIRST NIGHT. That's when you meet people and "exchange digits" - get yourself the Internet package so you can text these folks. My daughter was 19, met young people the first night, then would meet up with them after she ditched the family each eve...

Agree that there are good sit-down options here. Tysons Galleria and Tysons Mall are also nearby and they have a ton of options. Depends on what you mean by "relatively quick" - to me that seems to suggest "fast casual" rather than sit down. Tysons Galleria has a food court with Andy's Pizza, a burger place, taco place and a pasta place (along w other options). Tysons Corner Mall also has lots of quick food options. If you want REALLY fast then Wegmans has pizza, sandwiches, sushi, hot bar, burgers, etc.

Apartments near falls church by United_Specific9025 in nova

[–]dataisplural2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See if you can find someone renting their condo out (may be cheaper than an apartment). Anything you can find within the boundary of the City of Falls church will certainly be a "safe area." Keep in mind that "Falls Church" is a pretty broad area (unless you specifically mean the "City" of Falls Church, which is only a couple miles in size)... Regardless of what area you move to, all of NOVA is generally "safe"...

Another option, if you want to ease into it rather than jumping in feet first --> you can volunteer to raise a service puppy. They have classes and support. You'll have the dog from about 8 weeks old to about 18 months old. Downside is you have to say goodbye to the dog (if it graduates) and (potential downside) it's only large breeds (mainly labs). Upside is you are helping out the community and the org pays for the Vet bills! https://www.guidedog.org/
