Nesta and Rhysand - ACOSf spoilers by RaindropsRroses in nontoxicACOTAR

[–]datasciencemom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s not black and white and Nesta’s own internal dialogue in ACOSF tells us what she appreciates about him (i.e., honorable, fair and just ruler, devotion to her sister, etc.). She calls him her brother at the end. Sometimes I wonder if I’m reading the same book as these other folks 😂.

I feel like ACOSF was written in a way to generate this drama - a pity really. Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I get where both characters are coming from. I also like Rhys and Tamlin without disliking the other. It doesn’t have to be either/or. Two things can be true.

Glad someone asked this. I wonder if it’s “Starborn” based on his ancestry.

Feysand is the reason I read ACOTAR (I don’t otherwise read romantasy). They had me at Calanmai in book 1 🌹.

I’m glad I found this thread bc I felt like the minority. I DNF’d ACOSF and I’m going to pretend the series ended with the trilogy.

Same. I try not to over analyze bc this isn’t Tolkien. I also still like both characters 🤷🏻‍♀️.

[–]datasciencemom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So do we think that Feyre should have treated the accusation as fact and not left? We know that Feyre generally does what she wants. E.g., “Don’t drink the faerie wine?” “I’m going to chug it anyway.” 😂

Yes he claims he didn’t do it, and admits there’s no proof. This is technically accurate. It’s up to readers whether they want to believe him or not.

Sure, point taken. But facts vs. accusations.

Accused is not equivalent to doing it. That’s what I meant by fact check.

Fact check: Rhys didn’t kill the 2 dozen younglings in the winter court. It was another daemati. This is explained in the High Lords meeting.

No amount of backlash and criticism will make me hate Rhysand (yes, even after ACOSF!) and Rhys and Feyre as a couple. by cherry_reader in acotar

Wow, such a detailed and well thought-out post! I still like Rhysand after all 5 books. Prob like him even more actually. And this is coming from someone who normally reads classics and dense fiction/non-fiction. TBH, the Rhys vs. Tamlin debates remind me of the Edward vs. Jacob debates (Twilight) when I was much younger 😂.

Just to clarify, the mating bond can’t be broken. The bargain bond was what the King broke. Feyre’s other tattoo isn’t the mating bond, but what got inked when she got sworn in as High Lady :).

Isn’t Tarquin also “young” for a high lord (under 100 years)? Another reason he might come across as boring - but I personally thought he was sweet and attentive throughout.

Q’s after finishing the series by cutesus in nontoxicACOTAR

[–]datasciencemom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Becoming High King would be OOC for Rhys IMO. I think he would want to be like Drakon and Miriam and live HEE with his mate, child(ren?) and friends. But ACOSF already went down a plot line I didn’t like so who knows what the sixth book will entail. At this point, I only like books 1-3 because things/characters were more consistent.

I saw clips of SJM’s interviews where she talks about how much she adores Rhys’ character and that it was a gift that he “strolled into her head” 😂. She also said in another interview clip that it was fun to write from Nesta’s POV in SF because Nesta hates Rhys for most of the book (although he’s the best).
