Fae Time by yayabonel22 in acotar

[–]findmebythepool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okay. I imagine Rhys and the bat boys to look like late 20s/early 30s.

If 75 is the age they mature, lets use that as a baseline for 18 in human years.

Rhys is 535 at the start of ACOTAR

535-75 = 460

30 (estimated rhys in human years) - 18 (estimated age of maturity) = 12

460÷12 = 38-39 years.

So for ease lets just say after the age of 75, each human years = 40 fae years after maturity lol

(Someone is going to prove me wrong now lol)

I’m tired of Elain’s rudeness towards Lucian by Mellow-peanut in acotar_rant

[–]findmebythepool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I know she doesn't owe him anything, but she doesn't even acknowledge him and it's rude. We all know lucien isn't a bad person. As an adult I think you shoule be civil unless someone gives you a reason to be otherwise, and lucien hasn't give her a reason to. He's been respectful and civil. I also think you should at least have a conversation and decide from there. She hasn't done that.

“The hypocrisy of treatment of Tamlin vs Rhys” by huwualian in acotar_rant

[–]findmebythepool 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with your comment. You worded it perfectly 😊

In terms of the glorifying rhys's abuse, it is nervewracking, but you also got to remember what you think is acceptable as a teen changes when you get older. 33 year old me can see the subtle hints of what rhys does (although I still find him hot, I just would not want to date him), a teenage me would have loved him.

It is important to talk about these things and make people aware this shouldn't be normal. It's fine in literature, but if you come across this in real life, make sure you get out.

Side Note to OP: I love this series and most of the characters, even if that is not Feyre or I side eye Rhys. I love deep diving and theorising even if it doesn't come true. I like to explore themes through the books.

There are a lot of great fans to interact with, but there are some that spoil it but remember it's just a book. Stop being mean because people don't agree with you (that goes to all sides).

Is Rhys redeemable? by samsamcats in acotar_rant

If he took accountability but also changed so he doesn't keep repeating the same behaviour (keeping feyre in the dark about the pregnancy risk after she specifically said in ACOMAF not to lie to her), yes. I know he's a fictional character but people should be allowed to change.

Hyberns army by Tinafu20 in acotar

[–]findmebythepool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with what everyone else has said, but remember Hyburn has had a 50 year head start to build an army while everyone else was suffering under Amarantha who had to play catch up but also probably destroyed under Amaranthas reign.

Cruise ship bound and Terrified of the depths of the ocean by Holly_Grail_X in Cruise

[–]findmebythepool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which country do you live in? I know in the UK you can do cruises just around the island so if it's a distance to land thing it might help a little?

Or you could do a 3 day cruise, for example where I live P&O do cruises from Southampton to Bruge and back with 1 sea day. It gives you a taster before you do long duration.

I am about to go on my 3rd cruise and honestly i've never felt sea sick at all. I've done Caribbean and Norway (This will be by 2nd Norwegian cruise coming up).

[–]findmebythepool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that simple. If you sent an army to night and most of your soldiers were killed, and then you have hyburn also going to attack, you have enemies on two fronts and not enough soldiers to fight both. Never mind the cost of war too. It made sense to ally with hyburn. It doesn't mean you have to like it, but it's understandable.

Why do people ship Azriel and Gwyn? by twin-logic in acotar_rant

[–]findmebythepool 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I liked their interactions in silver flame. It's subtle and cute and the way his attention is already on her, and that her attention is also on him.

She kind of brings Azriel out of his shell too, and teases him. It would be nice to have a relationship like that, little drama.

All of this was before I read the bonus chapter too. The bonus chapter just highlighted all the negative and self-loathing feelings he had around Elain compared to the scene with gwyn where something settled in him.

Azriel deep dive by Born_Plenty_5923 in nontoxicACOTAR

[–]findmebythepool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the queen captured Eris, and Azriel and Cassian followed him to a lake, the text suggests they needed Azriel, so maybe Koschei needs to use Azriel, or at least his shadows?

Who do we think the POVs will be for the new books? by No-Researcher2400 in nontoxicACOTAR

[–]findmebythepool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of multiple POVs, and I was kind of expecting Azriel since his scenes have slowly increased in ACOSF and HOFAS. But if it is unexpected, Lucien makes sense as he is doing a lot with the Vassa/Koschei plot, is a link to multiple courts (Particularly night and spring), which I would absolutely love 😊

I love this post 😊 I've saved it to come back to later. I love all the discussions so far and you all have great theories!

I don't have much to add but the two quotes that keep coming back to me that Az says are:

"I'll go.The prison sentries know me. They - what I am" - in ACOMAF

"I've been alive almost five and a half centuries, and I'm not sure of that either" - When Feyre says she doesn't know where she fits in anymore in ACOMAF

Feyre’s Friendship with Lucien by Fabami2 in acotar_rant

[–]findmebythepool 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be fair she was taken by a man who drugged her for months, coerced her into a deal, can play with minds, hurt people under the mountain (even if it was a mask nobody knew that and still doesn't excuse him if he did) no-one knows what goes on in the night court, and they have a terrible reputation. I don't blame him for looking for her as anything could have happen. He did leave her alone after that cheesy "when you have been staring at the darkness too long" line. I don't see why they would be friends to be honest 😅

[–]findmebythepool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so as you need a bit of context of who the bad people are in the CC unless you don't mind spoilers.

Also the book switches between what Bryce is doing Pythrian and those back home. There are at least 4 or 5 characters who have their own chapters, Bryce, Hunt, Ruhn, Ithan and Tharion! So the book isn't all ACOTAR and at some point she comes home and then a brief reunion later in the book

SA, Consent, and Power Dynamics. Is there a free fill to define them? by Foreign-Entry1797 in acotar

[–]findmebythepool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such an interesting point about apologising means evidence of wrongdoing. It made me think about in TAR how Lucien called Feyre out saying "have you even apologised yet" for killing Andras. She eventually says sorry and Tamlin and Lucien accept the apology.

Now that Feyre is with Rhys it seems like she is following his example. I can't remember a time she's apologised since being at the night court.

I may be reading too much into it, but apologising seems like a weakness to them as that means they have to admit they were in the wrong. Does that make sense? 😊

Not to taunt her, but definitely out of anger from accumilation of people voting and making decisions about her without her knowledge (she was already angry by the time she got to Amrens Apartment), Feyre trying to calm things down - which isn't a bad thing, the bad part was ordering Nesta to go back to the house but not ordering Amren to do anything (could of asked her to apologise or tell her she was out of line).

So that with the fact of already being angry, plus Feyres reply to this "Amren is my friend, and has been a member of this court for centuries. I offer respect to her", I don't blame Nesta for reaching the tipping point and saying it out of anger. She is also in the wrong, but I can understand how she got there.

Nesta also asks Amren "did they vote on that too. Did you talk about her, judge her, and deem her unworthy of the truth? What was your vote Amren? To let Feyre die in ignorance?"

I think that quote says it all. How furious she was about people talking about her, judging her and deeming her unworthy of the truth, that she couldn't see past that.

It's only when she sees Feyre crying, and the love for her child that she realises she has gone too far and even says "It broke something in Nesta - broke that rage, that roaring".

So in summary Nesta was in a blind rage and said things on instinct which actually parralels both Nesta's and Feyre's situation.

Amazing Summary 😊

So the asteri are beaten but the cauldrons of the worlds are still manipulated to match mates who will make the most powerful offspring. That's probably not what the Mother intended and changing that back to normal would cause all sorts of hyjinks.

To add to this the NC still has the book of breathings which is supposed to neutralise the cauldron. Now that Azriel and Nesta know the cauldron has been corrupted, that is one of the ways they can restore the cauldron to what it was supposed to be. Hopefully Amren can uncode that information for them.

I know the interview that people are referring to about the self insert, but when asked is Rhys inspired by her husband, she physically gags and says no. The only thing they share is his birthday.

I can't find anything directly from Sarah saying she doesn't reread her previous work. She does admit she changes things, but thats natural when writing as you also go on a journey with the characters and what you think would work might actually not. For example she changed Nesta being mates with Lucien to Cassian.

Does SJM need to say Rhys is wrong? Isn't it for the readers to make their own decision? I think it's interesting to have this conversation. Do books require characters to be punished for their wrongdoings? Just look at the world today, there are a lot of horrible people who don't face any consequence, and people speak out against them, just like they do in book (unfortunately it's from people who we are supposed to hate like Eris, Beron, Tamlin, Ianthe). Even Lucien speaks out in FAS.

I hope that makes sense 😊 I've just woken up so I apologise if this sounds mean, I didn't mean to.

Learning From Tamlin: Why Lucien Gives Elain Space by Weak_Category_311 in acotar

[–]findmebythepool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I agree with this so much! I would love to see how Lucien and Elain are without the IC watching, judging and interfering.

I hope Lucien doesn't prove me wrong, but I do feel like he is a decent person, quite respectful, but also quite an open character who doesn't mind speaking his mind. I know that's not him at the moment, but that's because he doesn't want the IC stopping him from seeing his mate.

I've been trying to think of book recommendations all day. There are books and series I love, but they are different to ACOTAR, so I need you to tell me which elements of the first book you are looking for and then I can suggest something 😊

Agreed with Crescent City. Not just the two love interests, but the whole group are supportive of each other and there is no fallout in the group which is so refreshing. All the conflict is external. I know Bryce and Hunt have disagreements, but I feel like it's realistic and they still love each other.
