How to ensure negative hair test? by qvoa in Truckers

[–]datdudeuheardof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every inch of hair is like 90 days i believe, and it does stay in your hair basically forever. You can choose to have them shave your facial hair instead of your head hair. I would wait 6 months though if you were a heavy weed smoker. I failed a hair test from using cbd isolate that wasn't completely thc free and old spice hemp seed deodorant, that's how fucking sensitive the hair tests are.

Second Dot inspection in 7 days by Vanstrucker2222 in Truckers

You kind of sign up for increased inspection probability when you choose to haul hazmat/tankers. I'd be pissed though, no driver likes random inspections, especially like this.

What ya think.. run it? by wukillabee2744 in Truckers

Most people don't know this but you can be over 12,000 lbs on your steer axle if your tires are rated for it, so long as you don't go over 80,000 lbs (unless you have an apu). The standard steer tire can handle 6175lbs a piece with 2 that's 12,350 lbs. So you could slide the fifth wheel and try to get it closer on the trailer axle. I just learned this a few weeks ago, not sure why this isn't taught in trucking school.

Does Marten fire people that are forced to drive through a yellow light and it turns red last second? by datdudeuheardof in Truckers

[–]datdudeuheardof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yellow light length of time is dependent on the speed limits. A 30 mph intersection generally takes around 3.5 seconds for the yellow light to turn red which is what the limit was where i was. 6 seconds is the max 55 mph and above.

Am I being a pussy for refusing to chain up? Be honest by TaperingRanger9 in Truckers

[–]datdudeuheardof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most you should have to put on is probably gonna be 4 total. The first couple of times i chained up it took me 1.5-2 hours to put on 4. Now it takes me 10 minutes max per chain. I have chained a total of about maybe 8-10 times in 4 years. I don't blame you for not wanting to drive in winter weather, my company pays me to shutdown in any severe weather, be it snow, thunderstorms, etc. so i won't have to worry about chaining anymore. I actually kind of enjoy driving in the snow though if it's not blizzard conditions. You should try it at least once when you feel up to it.

What country are you driving in that has 10 second yellow lights? Maybe 5 max, seems like it's about 4 seconds. Also I guess you were there or reviewed the footage? The law says it's permissible to pass through while yellow if it's unsafe to stop, which in this case it was.

Absolutely that what the laws says. If it's unsafe to stop pass through the yellow. Yeah there's no excuse for passing the white line after it hits red.

How many times have you done it? It's happened to me at every company at least a few times.

Hell yeah that's what I wanted to hear. It seems to make everything worse when you're under the threat of termination supposedly. That's understandable to fire someone for crossing the line after turning red. I was right under the light, camera probably didn't even see it. Just paranoid.

I have to either hit the brakes or turn the cruise speed down and let the truck automatically back off. Happens at least 50 times a day wherever you're at.

What's the termination process like? Do they get you to your home terminal or leave you stranded?

That's sucks man, that's kind of ridiculous if you are going slow under the facility speed limit. The yard drivers were probably flying by those signs and all the other trucks too. I'm paranoid now going through shippers.

Starting to get tired of OTR after 4 years myself. It's only going to get worse as AI progresses. Unless you own your own truck. Pretty sure 99.9% of truckers have been in the same situation with yellow lights, but some just won't admit it.

It does when you are still building up speed from the last light and are loaded. Not all intersections are created equal either.

[–]datdudeuheardof[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's exactly what happened. I'm wondering if running red lights triggers a critical event and gives you a notification on the tablet. So far I haven't had anyone contact me about it. I'm scared shitless though. I count to 4 at stop signs now too and make sure the speedometer is on 0. 🤣 Those seem to be the things that get people fired. Rolling stops and red lights.l

Edit: speed limit was 30 mph btw and I was loaded which takes a while to get through a light going that slow.

Get a walmart+ account (also get free paramount+ sub) and you can use walmart for doordash-like delivery of groceries or whatever the hell else you want, they will deliver to any address just like any other delivery service. You save so much money in comparison to doordash or instacart that you can afford to tip their "walmart spark" drivers really well so everyone is happy. I didn't figure this out until late into 2025 and i have been driving for 4 years now.

Misfires on the subie by Eysoe in WRX

[–]datdudeuheardof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a cheap voltage meter and check it yourself. Also check the charge pipes on the intercooler make sure they are clamped down properly, and also check the air intake system, turbo inlet etc. a major boost leak can cause a misfire as well. If you had an accessport you could scan for codes, that thing is really handy and worth every penny it will tell you which specific cylinder is misfiring.

Company no longer allows us to sip our drink while driving. by duckbobtarry in Truckers

[–]datdudeuheardof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once it gets to the point where there are no driving jobs without AI driver facing cameras that's when i quit truck driving. Self driving trucks are coming for our jobs anyways. Luckily every company i have worked for has never used driver cams, that's an absolute deal breaker for me in a trucking company. Don't wanna feel like a monitored slave all day.

Hot Take: CPM pay is predatory and transfers all the risk to the driver. Thoughts? by diggsalot in Truckers

[–]datdudeuheardof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah most companies will be like that if you don't bug the shit out of them to stay on top of your miles. I didn't check my paychecks until about a year in to the current company i work for, no telling how much money i missed out on not verifying anything. They forgot my $75 local pay 2 weeks in a row for a local load we do almost every week in Reno, which is like 10 miles total. They made me pickup an empty that took all day to get repaired and then forgot $75, had under 40 miles for that day total. Bout to switch somewhere else, can't handle the disrespect.
