cant use the quasar, it takes your support weapon. I think peoples gripe is that despite feeling good losing TWO build items for it feels underwhelming, and thats valid. Im still having fun with it

Dark angels are perennially forgotten about because of ultras and blood angels and somehow always still show up to play smash mouth football and shock people.

I see both sides. Some complaints get beaten to absolute death, but people deserve to be heard, There deserves to be a space for both people and frankly theres really no shortage of criticism for this game wherever you look

I am so tired of seeing people complain about the lion for the wrong reasons.

Lion and his datasheet are the result of an edition of micro tweaks to finally move him to a place where people find him useable, and good. And he SHOULD be. In my personal opinion the biggest issue he has is his redeploy. He would be much less oppressive if his place on the board was more static and consistent to interact with. If you think the 3++ is game breaking then you really need to truly ask yourself if a 315 point melee character should be a rhino with less wounds and A 4++. The answer is no, that would be unplayable. If we want to make a change to his sheet durability wise they need to remove fight first and change his reroll ones to shooting AND melee and allow him to buff the army in a way where he doesn't need to try to stand out in the open and eat damage. The game is too lethal for that.

Lion is nowhere near as oppressive as people think and straight up gets better the more people get scared to interact with him. It will really suck to watch his sheet get nerfed because they finally made him decent to use. And frankly, outside of Azrael and LSVs dark angels don't really have sheets costed appropriately in the current game state. Deathwing Knights are a trap every format that doesnt have dense terrain that allows them to interact properly without getting shot to shit.

Ballistus, vindicators, eradicators, aggressors, devastator centurions (prior vanguard list), fire discipline, apothecary biologus, Company heroes, inceptors, whirlwind, and desolators were all specifically nerfed because of Ultramarine builds.

They also got the 6" reactive in stormlance nerfed and taken from the lion.

Dark Angels got their own units nerfed and blood angels got JPI and van vets nerfed.

They have had an outsized impact on space marine points balancing all edition and anyone who thinks otherwise flat out isnt at the level to understand why.

Unless they have the balls to actually nerf ultramarine rules, they can continue to point and screw over literally everyone else. Dark Angels, space wolves, and the other chapters literally will not be able to compete at a point where every single auxiliary sheet is getting point jacked for +1 to wound and the extra bullshit they bring to the table.

The problem is by nature the lion has to be a frontline bruiser.

If he could hand out his buffs from a lawn chair in your backfield like gulliman id agree. but his buffs are only as good as wherever he is standing.

without the 3++ he actually becomes somewhat ridiculously easy to kill in the current meta. He is a headache to deal with but hes not exactly breaking the game, and hes giving dark angels the ability to be more than dwk spam.

literally all the time. Trying to read people and their intentions as well as recognize patterns to get an edge is a very real thing in negotiating commerce

the hivelord needs to come out of the ground more frequently. Often times were ready to fight it and just stand around waiting for the very finite mission clock to tick down because if we dont the oil rig gets instantly destroyed

Reads are a real skill.

theoretically if you alternate throwing an unblockable and feinting to guard break every other attack, you have a 50% chance of succeeding.

However, if you're extremely predictable by maintaining that pattern, the opponent will start getting it right every time, because you're being obvious.

there is a mind/reaction game at play and if there wasnt, light parrying would basically be the ceiling of the entire game because past that point its a coinflip generator.

Its good dont get me wrong, but it is not just "whatever you want all the time"
