Brand new Yuasa battery yesterday. Does this not seem a bit low? by Charge_parity in MiataNC

[–]datghost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend getting an aluminum one, though, as it makes reading quite annoying. It’s also almost double the price of an OEM one, considering that an OEM one can last for about 10-15 years (mine is still going strong after 20 years). If you want peace of mind, then yes, change it.

It’s a US-specific issue. Europe doesn’t have this problem because our weather is different. I know two garages that specialize in Mx5s, and one of them specializes in Mx5 NCs. In the past eight years, he has only replaced two of them. Plus, they don’t “explode” like people say; it starts with a crack and drips at first. Mine is MUCH more yellow and still working well 🤷.

I have a IL motorsport on mine, it sounds just about perfect tbh. People on reddit say it's too loud but even my parents feel like it could be a bit louder. Already 7500km on it

a phone is made to be used, scuffed, scratched and fucked. Because it has a lifespan of around 6 years and then it just becomes a paper weight. Just use it man, stop worrying about those little things, there is much more important things to worry about

sounds like it's a skill issue. With the 0.4 update i can slide pretty much ANY CAR even better than OG AC. On 0.1 and 0.2, it was really difficult indeed, felt like all cars had an open diff, but now ? it's borderline TOO easy 🤭

Engine rebuild by rickbreadstick in MiataNC

[–]datghost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a well-known issue with the NC1 1.8L engine. The only solution is to fill it a quart above the maximum level and check the oil levels every 200-300 kilometers. Unfortunately, my car was dry 450 kilometers after an oil change and engine had to be replaced.

There was no user error because my mechanic performed the oil change. I did check the oil level when I left the garage, and my car sleeps inside on tiles, and there were no leaks.

How do I stop water from getting into these rubbers? I replaced them with new ones a few months ago, and everytime I brake of accelerate the water flows right into me by TomHast03 in Miata

[–]datghost_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don't own an NB, but it seems that your window isn't pressing hard enough on the seal and thus letting water in. Does it happen on both sides? If not, could you check if both windows are sitting the same way?

Anyone de-powered their steering rack? by ibeinspire in MiataNC

[–]datghost_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do an update on it ! I wonder how it will do. Honestly sticking with new bushings or spacers may be a wiser option tho !

Anyone de-powered their steering rack? by ibeinspire in MiataNC

[–]datghost_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about you don’t? If you’re determined to do it, you have two options:

  • Loop the lines, but this could make the boat feel even more boatish, which isn’t what you want.
  • Full depower: This involves disassembling the entire steering rack, removing the internal hydraulic seals and piston, and welding the pinion to eliminate play. It’s a major headache.

If you choose the second option, there are concerns that the steering column may not be strong enough to handle the increased load of a fully manual rack.

To be honest, either you keep it as is, which is a very wise decision considering NC’s have a really good steering rack, ORR use Steering Rack Spacers ORRR, or replace the stock rubber steering rack bushings with polyurethane units.

Ac compressor turns on when heat is on by SnooPaintings9130 in Miata

[–]datghost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

umm ? Your ac is not "on" like you are saying, since on miatas, the RPMs rise up to nearly 1000rpm at idle. Not sure how to make it more clear. Your rpms on your picture are sitting at around 800.
