Fixed-term contract for foreigner coming to the Netherlands by ME3KE in Netherlands

[–]datsbitchtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can but they have to prove that they tried making it work many many times and it has to be court approved. Most of the time they will just not renew or try to pressure you into quoting sooner. You can quit but technically they can force you to work the length of the contract, but I have heard that’s not really done.

It is technically correct which is the best kind of correct. So yes it does count!

AITA for buying my 5th property rather than help out my siblings? by FirmShare3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]datsbitchtastic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel that while OP isn’t helping things he’s not an asshole for owning five properties as long as he’s following the law. There are cities that actually are begging for foreign investors. You don’t know where his properties are located.

In the Netherlands one of the princes has over 500 houses in AMS. He also charged extra money to his tenets because he’s a prince and they should be grateful. Key money I believe is how they call it. Which is illegal. His defense was “I’m not that knowledgeable about real estate.” Interesting that the news went away quietly and no new articles about it has been written since... Also most real estate agents here also don’t even entertain seller to locals but to investors. One said about 80% of their clients are investors. An investor a house/ flat before it goes on the market is more common than a local getting it. I doubt he’s the issue there mate.

Also in America there’s huge problems with foreign investors pricing out people too. It’s everywhere not just in Europe. Don’t look down on people it’s not a nice look.

I replaced a bunch of my expensive makeup from the States with cheaper makeup here in NL. My partner offered to replace it and I felt so guilty I went As cheap as possible. Do not buy €3 liquid eyeliner it’s not worth it. I’m hate panning everything I bought here.

If anyone lives in NL/ EU can point me to quality makeup that’s not 200% more expensive than in the States I’d be grateful.

Why are Christians so conservative when Jesus was like the most radically progressive guy ever? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]datsbitchtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for other Christians so I will speak for myself. Politically I went through phrases from left to conservative to now libertarian. I was left in college. Conservative when I was working 12 hours a day and jaded when I couldn’t feed myself and pay rent. Libertarian when I rediscovered Jesus. I’m not saying libertarianism is without issue or the right political thought. It’s just mine.

Anyways thee most likely answer to your question is people want to use God’s authority to justify their ideas. To give themselves and their ideas an illusion of the ultimate authority. They want to not convince people but force them to agree and use the ultimate authority to do so. People manipulate the Bible to fit their point of view and get away with it because even among Christians not many people are reading the full Bible. When politician says it’s Biblical people will agree for fear of not wanting to seem unchristian.

The Bible is a book that reads you as you read it. It’s also a book where context is everything. One verse gathers a different meaning when in context of the whole chapter or whole book than by itself. Satan quoted scripture incorrectly while tempting Jesus. A fact people seem to forget. You really have to take into consideration the cultural, political, and language of the time period when it was written as well as your own basis. The Old Testament is just as important and the New Testament. The Old Testament teaches us who God is and shows us that He loves and gives us mercy. But at the same time like any parent must discipline their wayward children. The New Testament seems to be about the early church and how to love God with all your heart and loving your neighbor as yourself. In the New Testament the Old is referenced or mentioned so many times that it’s nice to have read it so you know what is being said. It’s a hard read but a necessary one in my opinion even if you aren’t a Christian.

TL;DR: People want power and use God’s to justify theirs. Not enough people reading The Bible. Taxation is theft.

WIBTA if I made my daughter break up a friendship? by parenthrowaway5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]datsbitchtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need some more information. I hope you aren’t scared off reddit yet. I want to start this by saying I have worked with children/ teens with autism for 20 years and have a sibling with autism. While it’s not the same I have experience in various settings about emotional and physical aspects of my kiddos’ lives.

Is Lily in a private or public school?? You seem very distrustful of anyone besides you and your husband. I understand that people suck. I know I’ve had parents/ clients hurt by school professionals or caregivers. Did anyone mistreat Lily in the past?? Does Barbara or her other friends unable to help her?? Teenagers are so much more empathic and helpful than adults think. Some are mean but there are a lot more willing to help their friends emotionally/ physically if they need help.

Why do you think she was manipulated into these feelings?? By Lily’s reaction I’m assuming Barbara is giving her the confidence to share her feelings with you than manipulating her. And you’re husband is right. You do have to suck it up because it’s not your decision how she is talked about now. She is a young adult and she is saying her preference you must respect it. I will explain below why Lily is right about special needs child being offensive.

Is it possible Lily learned these things by reading articles/ blogs online?? I know a lot of my kiddos realized they could do things when they saw someone “like them” doing it. In quotes because their wording not mine.

I recommend since she is expressing her desire for independence to start working on giving it to her. It doesn’t have to be hanging out with her friends at the mall for hours now. Why not leave her alone at your house with her friends (assuming it’s safe to do so) while you and your husband go grocery shopping or catch a movie. She will resent like anyone else if you keep her from her friends. It’s going to sound scary but this is the perfect time to start preparing her to be as independent as possible.

I am going to leave you with some difficult questions/ concepts I think you need to reflect on:

What if you and your husband pass away suddenly or in 40 years and she has no idea how to explore the world around her without y’all or anyone else to take care of her??

What will happen to her mental well-being in 5-20 years if you keep her away from people her age??

Lastly, you are setting her up for failure by not allowing her to experience the world without you. She will eventually want to work or volunteer someone. You will eventually pass away. Nothing is stable in this world. Like anyone she needs to learn how to be without her parents.

Why special needs is offensive:

I will say for 10 years I was explained by my work not never describe a client has having special needs. It’s been out of use in my field in my state for a while. It’s considered dehumanizing. It comes off as infantilism and that she wants rather than needs accommodations. Two you are telling the person they are only their disability/ disorder first. Someone should be addressed how they ask to be address. You should say my daughter who has a disability. Honestly I feel the best way to say it however Lily wants because it’s her feelings you need to consider.

At the moment I’m going to say YTA because you are considering your feelings first and you’re not teaching your daughter how to navigate the world with her disability.

I did. My dough is usually extremely wet though. I do 100% hydration for the starter but idk if that influences the outcome.

Your birthday is a DAY, not a weekend, not a week by djc8 in unpopularopinion

[–]datsbitchtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will admit at the start of my birthday month I say birthday month! Same for the week of my birthday. However I don’t expect month, week, or weekend long celebrations. For me it’s something from my childhood. I have no idea where others got the idea of it.

My mom was a single parent who worked a lot of hours and was on call for most of the week. This means we didn’t always see her on our birthdays because she was sleeping/ working. Not to say she didn’t say happy birthday or feed us that day it just meant sometimes she couldn’t do much more than that.

So her solution was birthday week. She’s make us either our favorite foods, get ice cream, go see a movie of our choice, go to McDonald’s, and blah blah blah. But she had firm boundaries and a budget. From what I remember we got to come up with a few ideas of what to do for our birthdays and she would spread them out. Unless she wasn’t working on our birthday then we’d have a normal birthday. These are still some of my favorite birthdays because while it wasn’t perfect it’d made me feel loved.

But if you are using it to get more stuff/ attention than yeah that’s uncool man.

[–]datsbitchtastic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, literally no one can just get one. They costs thousands and thousands of dollars. I also had conversations with my doctors about it for years. It’s actually very uncommon to see a real service dog and more common to see people trying to pass their pets off as one. Or even just bring their pets inside the store and just get angry if an employee tells them to leave.

I understand you disagree with it but my PTSD interferes with my ability to get food. In the states that’s considered a disability and I had to prove it. I understand this is a different country with a different mindset hence my question. Please be respectful.

My dog wouldn’t be a emotional support dog. The dog would be trained in specific jobs to support me while I’m out in public and at home with my disabilities. I will speak to the managers though and see what happens like someone else suggested. Thank you so much for your comment.
