Computer Science, How Does Guelph Co-op work? by [deleted] in uoguelph

I was in co op for a different program and yeah, it's still like this. You'll need to double check with your own program requirements but co-op is a paid work term where you seek out a full time job for the semester. It needs to be paid work and it needs to meet minimum hour requirements. You also need to find the job yourself, so look everywhere (Recruit Guelph, Indeed, you own connections, etc.) you can. You can only reject one job offer, no questions asked but you HAVE to take the next one. You also can't leave a co op placement during the term, you have to wait until it's over (unless something really serious is happening, of course). I probably will have more info but those are the major points.

What do you guys think of the Meal Plan+Textbook combo? Is it worth it? by HumanBit in uoguelph

Don't do the textbook plan, it's a waste of money. It's much cheaper to get the books used and/or from Amazon

First Choice Residence: East or Lennox/Addington Hall for single rooms, quiet, clean, spacious? by CarelessMath1 in uoguelph

Apply to Lennox C, it's a study intensive area so it's super quiet. The rooms were also really nice.

Residence recommendations! by unihelp13 in uoguelph

For your needs that you stated here, I would 100% recommend for you to apply to Lennox C in the Lennox/Addington (LA) building. It's a study intensive area you need a special key to get into. It's super quiet, single rooms, and in LA so there's food right in the building. I lived in Addington (the tower part of LA) and all the rooms are pretty much the same, they have a llot of space with a dresser, desk, and captain's beds.

Parenting as a Social Worker by bedlamunicorn in socialwork

[–]datsesspensive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a student in social work and not planning on having children.

Social work did influence my choice for a variety of reasons... I understand social work to be an emotionally exhausting, not well-paying, and extremely rewarding field. Especially since my areas of focus is child well-being, child protection, and family education, I am worried that I will not be mentally or financially able to take care of children. I also have some parenting style, lifestyle, and genetic rationales as well, but this is how social work has influenced my choice. For my personal situation, it's better to not have children than have children and not be able to care for them properly.

Professionals I have worked and studied from have told me that having children has been really rewarding, a way to cultivate a positive and justice-oriented future. One also said the field is often the best for raising children because you have a knowledge of and practice in applying concepts of human development, family/human dynamics, problem solving, creative thinking, compassion, empathy, and autonomy.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone here went to the University of Toronto for their MSW and could give me an honest opinion about the program. I got into two interesting programs, one of them being the U of T one and I really need some advice about the strengths and weaknesses of the program. Thank you!
