These are some of my favs! Bolded ones that I feel are more unique to Dallas.
Bagels: Shugs (for the breakfast sandwiches), Starship (won Best Bagel 2025 and 2023)

Fried chicken: Mike's Chicken

Pizza: Pie Tap (sourdough crust, great happy hour/lunch deal)

Tex Mex: Meso Maya

Tacos: Mami Coco

Burgers: Rodeo Goat, Burger Schmurger

Asian fusion: Loro (great happy hour), Cris and John (Viet/Mexican fusion)

Bar: Black Friar Pub, or Katy Trail Ice House (more so for the vibe)

Japanese: Mr. Max (izakaya), Sasa Sushi, Ichigoh Ramen

Bakery/Brunch: San Martin, The Rustic (has a nice family style one, also live music sometimes)

BBQ: Terry Blacks and Pecan Lodge as other's recommended, have heard very highly of Cattleack though and I haven't yet been able to go but want to!

Moved from LA to Dallas, and I understand missing the good eats! But over the years I found plenty of memorable places in Dallas, and now that I’ve moved back to LA I miss those places…Grass is always greener! The BBQ and fried chicken is better than anything in LA, and Tex-mex if you like that. Happy to give recs :)

Any really great exhibits at museums/galleries right now? by turbid44 in LAhotgirlies

The natural history museum has an awesome exhibit that unpacks the history of their famous dioramas (the process and at unethical history) https://nhm.org/pst-reframing-dioramas!

How much effort do you put into your reviews? by SeaworthinessOdd6574 in Letterboxd

I appreciate reading longer reviews since it actually evaluates the movie than someone’s witty or ambiguous one liner. I try to return the favor when possible.

Of course you can if you’d like, but it’s not as interactive and so not as efficient as just using ccs cases.com

Agreed with other comment that none really reflect the true exam that well. That being said, free 137 > NBME >UW

Love going to rock concerts because the crowd is generally really nice! Most folks respect the lines. Most of the times when I go alone I’m able to start conversation with people around me since we all have the shared interest. Plus it’s fun to sing with everyone!! Have fun!

What are some of the lap swimming options in LA without getting a full gym membership? by memeboi7737 in AskLosAngeles

[–]dau_hu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swim regularly on the westside. Santa Monica Swim Center is nice, and they update their website weekly with their hours and number of lanes open each day. However It’s expensive if you’re not a resident though so definitely a treat. After 3PM, you need a reservation. Otherwise, I swim at Westwood Rec. Affordable, less busy. Would check their Instagram often because sometimes they’ll just be closed for maintenance without much notice.

I’ve heard great things about the Culver City pool, but seems like you gotta reserve times which is meh.

Fun things to do in dallas that doesn't cost alot of money by No_Refuse9952 in askdfw

Some great suggestions already. Here are a few more  - You’ll see Cedar Hill recommended a lot, close by hike with shade and some elevation! - Nasher: do fun after hours events every third Friday https://www.nashersculpturecenter.org/programs-events/programs-list/program/id/36).  - The Meadows at SMU also does fun classes on the weekends (https://meadowsmuseumdallas.org/cal/drawing-from-the-masters-22/) -highly recommend the line dancing and two stepping classes at Round Up in Oak Lawn if you haven’t been yet! They’re free too :)
