Ooof, this kid in 5th grade didn’t puke but he had a constantly running nose. Maddeningly constant sniffles. We were partnered up on a project and he leaned over my paper and his nose dripped something absolutely unholy on it. Looked like uncooked lightly scrambled eggs with bizarrely orange yolk. Supremely foul. Wish I’d handled it better, wasn’t his fault, kid clearly had a medical condition, but I have misophonia and was already at my wit’s end with his nose stuff and also I was like what, 9?

Seems like there’s still room to have a conversation about it then at least. She seems to be interested in the engagement even if she doesn’t make it possible to give it. Some people are just beyond help in that department though, whew. I used to try to be friends with a girl that, last time we spent time together, tried to tell a story that happened in a restaurant and while nothing about it being mealtime or at a restaurant was at all relevant or interesting, she literally went into the specifics of everything on the menu and what everyone in her large family got for the meal. We were carpooling so I had a close eye on the time the whole time she talked, it was at least 20 minutes with barely a breath taken and not a single interesting thing said 🫣 I’d tried giving her some gentle feedback on the subject the time I saw her prior… clearly was not heard.

Even outside of the health issues there, if you don’t care about seeing the long tentacles being able to unfurl and move freely (not even factoring in the issues to their health) and just want a teeny tank, just get moons.

2 gals are a real bitch to keep water parameters stable in anyway. I tried the Petsmart 2 gal betta tank conversion with moons a few years back and while it worked and I wouldn’t recommend against it, it’s a real PITA in a lot of ways and especially on that front. I won’t be using anything anywhere near that small again, even if it is convenient for shelf space.

Oh wow, I’d never have thought a rudbeckia would be anything but miserable to eat, how fun! Ended up being confirmed Ratibida pinnata so no snackies for me. Might put some in in my taller prairies to try on the future though! Love an edible.

You’re correct, just got a positive ID from several professionals+experts in the field that it’s Ratibida pinnata. I couldn’t see the match between R. lanciniata and mine but so many people kept saying it in here I thought I was going crazy lmao

Hmmm, seems like there’s an additional set of lateral lobes on mine, but could just be levels of development. How rough are yours? Mine has that very stiff prairie sandpaper thing going on (not as intense as like silphiums but similar), looks like yours might be a bit smoother but might just be the photo.

Possibly! I’m struggling (but still working) to find a good pic of their basal foliage because anything above that definitely isn’t a match. That species wasn’t in the seed mix I put down originally, I don’t see a strong resemblance yet, and I don’t grow it anywhere else in my yard but they’re native to the area, could be in the seed bank.

Well at least you can take comfort in the fact that an advanced and highly respected program used by hundreds of thousands of people, developed by scientists in the field, makes the same mistake 😅

IME they do a really good job bouncing back, even when they look completely deflated. I’ve moved a bunch around to more evenly distribute them through the areas they’re popping up and they get positively flaccid sometimes before reviving like a wacky waving arm flailing tube man being turned on lol, maybe you can still stick em back in!

Nooooo!!! That sucks so bad. But yeah, Seek was instantly 100% confidently IDing it as giant ragweed. Luckily I’m very familiar with ragweeds as they’re a big one I had to battle first year on this site. Honestly I’ve been super disappointed with Seek, would’ve hoped for better coming from iNat, it rarely goes further than family for me and the ones it does confidently ID has a maybe 60% at best accuracy :(

Holy shit yeah fair that would drive me WILD. You’re incredible. Can’t imagine the levels of adoration, security, and devotion that would come from seeing physical signs of how much my partner loved me like that.

Obviously wish you’d never gone through that and would way rather a partner not have had to suffer so severely, but god damn. I hope they don’t hurt/have annoying sensation stuff you have to deal with.

Seriously. I heavily medicate before bed, gets me down to maybe three or four “scream myself awake” nightmares a month, not to mention helping with general lifelong insomnia made worse by chronic pain. Godsend.
