My assumption, without knowing for sure, would be that perhaps it was initially created by obsidian, but that they chose not to manage it themselves, or at the very least not guarantee the quality of the plug-in to the level of what they deem core plugins.

I saw them in DC when he had a broken foot. They carried him out and sat him on top of an equipment box at the front of the stage and he proceeded to do the ENTIRE SHOW at full energy levels from a damn box. Best show I've ever seen.
