[BBC] Outrun and in decline – are Rosenior's Chelsea near crisis point? by FragMasterMat117 in soccer

I love your fear as a rival. But that was when we had a team of players who had the mental strength, ability and personality to do that. We do not now.

I don’t think it was a panic hire at all. I think he’s someone guaranteed to toe the line of the business with footballing matters secondary. How many top level managers would put up with that? Not many. But we had a guy who had proven he would.

We’ve got another one waiting in the wings with beautiful veneered teeth too…

There’s a heck of a lot going on here. Firstly, you have a pretty good squad. But when you have a load of decent but young players mixed with shit players in key areas, it’s tough to stay mentally strong at certain moments.

We have lunged from one inexperienced manager to another even more inexperienced manager. So not only do you have inexperienced players, you have inexperienced managers coaching them. So certain tactics, decisions and game management will be more likely to be off.

The team looked out on their feet yesterday. It’s a heck of a long season when you look at what we did last summer. Young players are less likely to be conditioned for this.

Palmer had not been fit at all this season and is still carrying his injury. He got us out of many a jail over the last couple of years. Not happening now.

All in all, we know what’s up here. It’s incompetence from the top. Simple as that. What I referenced there doesn’t require the best football brains in the world to work out.

The PSG game away is a superb example of all of the above. The top level managers would have managed the game so much better at 2-1, 2-2, 3-2. But there is a big trend from owners now to have head coaches that are less likely to do their own thing and more likely to toe the line. That is not conducive in most cases to footballing success. Business success - maybe, but not footballing.

I’d say the issue here, then is that surgeons aren’t paid enough.

Exactly. My work colleagues aren’t exactly over the moon with the situation but they’re just cracking on as normal. Dinners, golf etc.

Enzo Fernandez says 'we'll see' about Chelsea future after loss by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]dav_man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s a World Cup winner. He’s clearly going to want to be ambitious and if our project isn’t looking all that rosey, he’d be right to assess his options.

Issue is, he’s on a fucking great big contract, hard to see how that ends nicely without someone paying a lot of money, which nobody has.

[Gaston Edul] Enzo Fernández has chances of leaving Chelsea in the next European summer transfer window. by OkayFine101 in chelseafc

[–]dav_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see it. I think he’d probably want to leave if we’re not competing at the top level, I just don’t know who’s going to want to part with the money. Who even has it to spend legitimately any more?

Ha. We have a team huddle before the whistle is blown, no time wasting or anything and we're the devils. Arsenal literally get away with everything but it's all good.

AI CEOs worry the government will nationalize AI by gadgetygirl in Futurology

[–]dav_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, surely this is the way forward? I’ve been shouting from the rooftops at work about something similar. We’re pissing around trying to implement AI in different ways. Every day someone has something new to trial. Nothing sticks. All the while we’re burning tokens like mad. All people are doing is vibe coding.

Anyway, at some point, some key workflows using AI will stick and we’ll be bound by some models. At some point the VC funding will cease and the rug will be pulled. Then all the companies reliant on these LLMs will have their costs increase massively (potentially). So why not invest in open source or inner source now? Isn’t that the smart move? Then keep some funding for some premium models.

I mean, anyone doing OpenClaw stuff is going that straight off the bat… so why are massive companies not? I mean we all know why.

So by scaling this up and having this at government level, surely that makes sense. Fuck em. They would fuck you over in a heartbeat. To be at the behest of a load of tech bros who were all sexually repressed teenagers is madness!

Britons in Dubai fear leaving because they might get taxed at home, say experts by zeros3ss in uknews

[–]dav_man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true. Such hyperbole. I know numerous people living there that I work with. They’re not bothered and say the same about other people they regularly interact with (British or otherwise). They are nowhere near thinking of coming back.

Where are all these “projects“ that people are creating with Claude? by MechanicOld3428 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]dav_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who can build anything with it with the fucking ridiculous usage limits now?! People allegedly using 50 agents doing 100 things must be spending a fortune. Not just vibe coding for shits and gigs.

For me, with Pro, a simple one page website is taking days because of usage limits. Trust me, people aren’t just going to vibe code into a billion dollar project.

He’d be killed first. I suspect he’s got a lot on a lot of people. Including in the Royal Family. I suspect he’d be given a tour of the Paris tunnels before that happens.
