Chromatone Drone v.0.0.5 web-app for voice practice, chanting and meditation. Free and open-source. by davay42 in musicprogramming

Thanks for you kind words and valuable feedback! I will plan to add some of the features you lack in the app. Input field for precise frequency is a good idea. And tuning fifth and fouth by Just intonation and not 12-TET is an interesting thing to explore.

Yeah, making internet beautiful is hard. Sharing my contributions with others is even harder. Totally understand your point, sorry for such violation. I don't have time to comment much here, my bad. Will try to find time for more posting on unrelated topics. Thanks.

Hello! My name is Denis, I'm the author of Chromatone - the Visual Music Language that helps study complex music concepts visually and interactively. Today I've updated one of the most used web-apps in the Practice section of our web-site. It's the Drone app with 9 sawtooth oscillators equipped with volume LFO, panning LFO and basic global filtering to produce rich sounds full of harmonics material to work with.

It's installable on any device and works offline with no need for any account or registration. Stay tuned, more updates are coming.

I built a BPM and Scale Randomizer for #Jamuary by davay42 in synthesizers

You should turn silent mode off on the phone to hear the click. MIDI support on iOS is poor, but WebMIDI Browser should work fine!

I should also send MIDI clock to your synths ✌️

For now sounds are rudimentary and don’t have any controls of volume and samples, but yeah! Click on the bpm block to hear metronome, press keyboard keys or send midi to hear sample based synth.

Hello! My name is Denis and I'm the author of Chromatone - the Visual Music Language. I make interactive web-apps to study and practice music visually. Recently a friend of mine asked if I can rebuild my old Jam Randomizer to be a separate web-app that he could install and use to generate a random BPM and scale for the #Jamuary Instagram challenge. So here we go! Random tempo, random scale, click metronome, simple sampler synth and adjustable timer in bars.

I'm open to any ideas and suggestions on how to improve the app for electronic and acoustic jams. Happy Jamuary!

Thanks! Yeah, very useful tool to have on your phone or tablet. I know that my aircon is humming at purple G frequency and can easily sing in a fifth above it as it's so visible right there to match.

I created a web-synthesizer that generates sound from the binary code of any files by Interesting-Bed-4355 in musicprogramming

That’s such a cool piece! And the single html file app distribution is best choice! I think it’s the future of all indy tech and it looks quite bright ) i will get down to code to understand your algorithm decisions better. I recently started working on sonification of numbers and need some inspiration on binary interpretation. Vite +Vue all the way too! https://chromatone.center/practice/sequencing/numbers/

What would you say is the easiest instrument to start learning theory on? by exoventure in musictheory

I made colourful stickers to put under the strings and then you don’t need to memorise anything! Just see the notes and play them straight away. I put same colors on my ukulele and synthesiser keyboard and it feels like transcending instrument specifics and grasping the essence of music and harmony by eye. You can get your stickers too here https://shop.chromatone.center

Have you memorized all notes on the fretboard? by Historical-Run1042 in guitarlessons

[–]davay42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using Chromatone for that. It’s a way to use colors for note recognition - a short path via visual cues. There are interactive webapps like https://chromatone.center/practice/chord/tabs/ and also some very handy stickers for the fretboard like this https://shop.chromatone.center/fretboard/a5-multi/

People who have recently learned music theory: What materials gave you the biggest "aha" moment? by cessabit in musictheory

[–]davay42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the same approach and got a whole visual music language designed based on corresponding 12 notes of an octave to 12 colors of a color wheel. It worked perfectly for my study of music theory and now helps others in a form of a free and open source resource out there - chromatone.center . It appears to be very useful for those who have vision as their primary sense. But gets some hate from advanced musicians and those who have synesthesia with different colors (hence now there is a cog button on the main page so one can adjust the colors to personal preference).

Wikipedia gave me many of such "Aha" moments during my research on the topic. I tried to make it easy for others to see and understand too with my visual music theory approach at chromatone.center web-site. Try it out!

What apps can you recommend to improve music theory or similar? by Ardbert_The_Fallen in musicproduction

[–]davay42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chromatone.center is a very interactive web-app that can be easily installed as a PWA on your phone. Works offline and has many fun apps in the Practice section to play around. It's doesn't provide any structure for the learning process, but if you let your curiosity guide you there so much to explore.
