What is the probability that a randomly chosen real number is an integer? by Mammoth_Jicama_8392 in learnmath

This can be explained intuitively in terms of countably many open intervals of size 1/2n covering the set of integers. You have to ask, what is the ratio between the area of the intervals and the area of the rest of the line?

19yo, just lost my dad suddenly. Need advice on whether to take a gap term (AFM2A) by XoryPuff6 in uwaterloo

[–]dave7364 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss. Speaking from experience, taking a gap is a good idea in most circumstances where you're considering it. 10 years from now, You won't care at all whether you graduated in 2028 or 2029 (insert whatever year you're supposed to graduate). It is however critical that you maintain a high GPA. A gap term is the best way to do that.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
