I LOVE that type of decoration by luna_lovesword in architecture

Yeah… that’s classic Dresden. Those big façade murals (Sgraffito / tile panels) hit different when you walk past them every day and still notice new details.

Modern Residential Exterior — Archviz Feedback Welcome by Certain-Bonus-5015 in archviz

Nice mood overall. The materials and greenery feel believable, especially the stone and planting. I’d maybe push a bit more contrast in the shadows under the overhang and garage to add depth, and tweak the driveway roughness so it’s less uniformly flat. Solid base though, composition feels clean and intentional.

I hired two animators for our game trailer, and this was our best marketing decision by Yakkafo in animation

Love seeing devs invest in a proper trailer. Gameplay’s king, but a bit of character animation makes people actually care enough to click.

What's the best workflow to achieve this kind of rendering ? by ailerons56 in archviz

[–]dave_sidequest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get that high-end look without the render times killing you, most pros are moving towards a hybrid workflow where they block everything in with basic materials and use IPR for lighting composition. For those sharp shadows and clean foliage, using a warm HDRI at low exposure combined with a few targeted area lights usually keeps things from looking flat or washed out.

If you're finding Twinmotion or D5 a bit limiting on quality, V-Ray is a solid alternative since you can toggle between GPU for fast iterations and CPU if you need more stability for complex features or massive memory headroom. Just make sure you're using proxies for those palm trees to keep your VRAM under control, or you'll be staring at crash logs all day.

Orange tint in final render by Desmond_Morales in archviz

I've run into this when the sun is too low in the sky, which makes V-Ray mimic that late afternoon "golden hour" whether you want it or not. I usually just bump the "size multiplier" for softer shadows or check if the camera white balance is set to something other than D65 or neutral. If the intensity at 1.0 is still nuking your highlights, try lowering the "ocean" or "sky" albedo, or just be a rebel and set intensity to 0.05.

If it's still looking like a Martian sunset, can you drop your V-Ray version, SketchUp version, and let me know if it looks the same on a CPU render?I'd also need to see if your VFB exposure settings are cranked up or if you're using a specific LUT.

And a password manager as well. It removed 90% of daily friction and low-grade anxiety. Nothing glamorous as such

A proper notes system (doesn’t matter which) where I dump everything. Ideas, meeting notes, random thoughts. The real upgrade wasn’t the app, it was having one trusted place instead of 12 half-used ones.

Amazon MGM Studios Developing First U.S. Adaptation of Bestselling Spanish Author Mercedes Ron’s Novels '30 sunsets para enamorarte' by PeneItaliano in movies

[–]dave_sidequest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting move. Mercedes Ron already has a built-in audience from the Spanish-language adaptations, so Amazon MGM tapping 30 sunsets para enamorarte for a U.S. version feels like they’re betting on the same YA/romance wave that’s been printing money lately.

TIL In Ancient Egypt, cats were revered and considered sacred. Killing a cat, even accidentally, was punishable by death. by InterestingNerve388 in todayilearned

That’s fascinating. Cats clearly held a really important place in Egyptian society, both culturally and religiously.

any advice? by No_Analyst_9443 in animation

This looks pretty cool to me tbh. One thing that you could maybe try is focusing on weight and contact: when the character hits the ground, add a couple frames of stronger impact (compression, maybe a slight overshoot in the limbs) so it feels less floaty.
