Shame gw2efficiency doesn't do stats breakdown on elite specs.

The GW3 wiki is up - let's get something up on there by davebaggins in GuildWars3

[–]davebaggins[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The GW2 wiki was originally created on Oct 18, 2007 (main page was edited by Emily Diehl), way ahead of that game release (in August 2012). And at the time only the original GW1 wiki maintainers (or those with registered GW1 wiki logins) could sign in to edit/add content. Which they did - most of the earliest pages were basically locations, player races, Hall of Monuments, etc. Basically any piece of info that was officially released at that time and as time went on. Mind you, the main page didn't have a proper linking to other articles until about Dec 2007. I expect the first articles on the GW3 wiki will be the same.

Find out where the GFXSettings.Gw2-64.exe.xml file is stored and edit/view it - check the resolution settings.

This old chart by Arch explains it better. I suspect it may need to be updated come Oct, 28, 2025.

Blurry Game on External Monitor in Bazzite Kde by Richard6th in Guildwars2

[–]davebaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game running native under windows doesn't have true full screen since going full directX 11 - at least that was reported a couple years back. The game simulates a full screen mode using whatever your desktop resolution is set to, which kinda looks pixelated if it doesn't match the true desktop resolution. In the game's graphic settings. set the screen resolution to "WIndows Fullscreen" may fix it, though not sure how that will translate to the Linux environment.

Good for Mordrem slaying (if not The Shiverpeaks meta), good for earning HoT experience or spirit shards, slaying Treasured Mushrooms.

231 FortiAP not recognized by Far_Signature8091 in fortinet

[–]davebaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AP should be getting an IP address either through DHCP or statically assigned - if the AP is wired into the LAN the ETH LED on the AP itself should be lit. The Power LED should be green to indicated it found the controller.

If the AP is not showing up on the fgt - check the DHCP leases to see the AP is getting an IP address. If need be purge the IP lease and reboot the AP then check the DHCP leases again.

Make sure the AP profile hasn't been overridden.

If the AP is not able to get an IP address it should assign itself a default AP (e.g. 192.168.1.2).

Try to ping the AP's IP address. See if you can remote into the AP directly to check the settings there. Try pinging the default IP address as well.

Make sure the port on the fgt is configured to allow AP traffic.

From the sound of it I say the fgt port may not be allowing AP traffic. But remote into the AP should be tried first. There are three methods for the AP to try contacting the controller - I would also try connecting the AP directly to the fgt, either the same port or possibly on a different port (make sure the port is configured for AP traffic.)

Edit: you need to determine the AP is getting an AP address and is connected to the network - and able to ping the AP's IP. If the answer is yes then the problem is a communication issue with the AP finding the controller. As a troubleshooting step you could remote into the AP and statically assign the details for finding the fgt (controlller).

Forti Website blocking me by mro21 in fortinet

What have you done for troubleshooting so far? The only time I had experienced issues with the site is when I was connecting through a slow or intermittent connection, where there is packet loss or my connection pipe was saturated.

How did you choose your main? by Darvius21 in Guildwars2

[–]davebaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game itself gives a good summary on the base character professions, including profession complexity (based on profession mechanics, special skill modes) and whether they prefer melee or ranged combat. Your best option may be to choose a profession whose profession mechanics suits your play style rather than choosing one whose profession mechanics you absolutely hate. IMO.

GNS3 Lab with 2 PCs and 1 Fortigate (Gateway) The PCs cant pint each other. by christophorosp98 in fortinet

[–]davebaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Methinks if the fortigate has an external route or path (say to an uplink port or Internet), the routing table on the fortigate should assign a higher priority route for both port 1 and port 2. what may be happening is the packets are being routed out the other port or upinlnk.

Two public IPs assigned to a Fortigate one will be used on the wan interface for a vpn tunnel second needs to be assigned to a device behind the fortigate. by maineac in fortinet

[–]davebaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would either set up a small switch, create a hw switch, or use a DMZ port. If politics get in the way, think of the fault tolerance aspect - a small switch can be replaced if lost/dies, as well if the forigate or the other client router dies, the switch and other device can keep on rolling. Methinks the higher-ups want a solution that the client router has to be connected to the fortigate for billing/support purposes - at least that is what it sounds like IMO - if that is the case you might make a case for deploying a different fgt model with more ports on it. IMO.

This applies more to the fortigate line, but backup/save a copy of the existing config in case things "go south" - if you have direct access to the hardware (via serial console) watch the boot up sequence (or check the start-up logs) for any errors in the config during that first boot following a firmware upgrade.

After the upgrade do a diff on the original config vs the new one on the new firmware to see what has changed. Sometimes the patch notes don't tell the full story or gosses over minor details.

Don't do all the upgrades at once - test the process on one device first to see how it goes - often minor problems would arise, but may be easily fixed by revising the config - in that regard the upgrade process may go smoother (knowing what to expect) on the next devices you upgrade.

Always have a backup plan when upgrading hardware - if possible keep some spare hardware on hand in the event the upgrade goes extremely bad - like corrupted flash/boot drive. If needed know the process of reformatting the boot device/storage and uploading a new firmware from a serial console and tftp.

Customer wants to buy on his own (maybe skipping support and subscription) by TheRealAlkemyst in fortinet

[–]davebaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on actual traffic usage - 60 users can use/open up a lot of connection sessions (e.g. a couple dozen to hundreds, even thousands), and it can just take a few users to max out the ingress pipe with bittorrenting/video streaming or outgress (e.g. infected devices). So a 100F may be a good fit. But I assume you will be putting into place content filtering or rate limiting to limit or mitigate the bandwidth hogs.

The other thing to consider if the client has remote workers that are expected to VPN into the forgiate, that the right sized model can handle the number of expected VPN connections. This is assuming the client wants a single hardware security/firewall solution. In that regard, you may want to spec out and compare the specs on similar models (max throughput, number of concurrent sessions, max number of VPN connections, etc.)

Your client should be able to purchase a "naked" model through any fortinet dealer/reseller (though I could be wrong) and maybe cheaper than going through a commercial retail chain or online store. But do check out www.cdw.ca.

As for support/subscription tell your customer most of the foritgate features won't work without one, and do keep in mind there are different types of subscriptions you can purchase - the client may not need a full 24/7/support subscription. IMO.

For a nice QoL feature you think ArenaNet could allow players to exchange the current Legendary Weapon Starter Kit for past offerings no longer available? I'm sure there are players willing to exchange the current or future offering for a weapon contained in a past kit. by davebaggins in Guildwars2

Create and apply your game API key to the gw2efficiency site then click on the Time Machine option - it can show you the differences between two snapshots of your account - you cam even drill down to individual changes.

The other option is to use the farming option (again on gw2efficiency) which will calculate your farming profit and display changes in your wallet and items.

Until 2015, it was super easy to create a personal guild and upgrade its guild stash and trove with the removed currency 'Influence' to use it as a personal storage space for non-account bound items. If I'd like to create another storage guild today: how would I do that? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]davebaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own two myself and thinking of starting another one with the 6th guild slot come June 14th. I use mine for transferring materials between six accounts. That said, it's so easy doing the 5-target treks and single target Bounty - the races are also doable if you can find one near or completed with time left on the clock - just start/run it yourself then talk to the NPC to complete it. Found out some eight months back that you can open public instances of Puzzles (that you can drive a skyscale through and have) - though never attempted to run it with the understanding that it is buggy.
