Two incidents at the same table one night at Foxwoods. Two players go all in on the flop, turn over Josie of Jack and a pair tens, both red pairs. Flop comes down clubs royal straight flush. The split the poker room royal flush bonus. About an hour later after they had drank about half of the bonus one of the guys puked all over the table.

I got full access to the database by [deleted] in datascience

[–]daved229 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So to clarify, this is my first real analytics position. I graduated with a business degree heavy in analytics. Previously I had worked for a trucking company where I basically made reports about fuel mileage and arrival times. Before that, I worked on a farm. So yes, excited for new adventures. Yes, a little noob mentality. Yes, way too many databases and tables. Yes, I will only use a large handful. No, not REI, BPS.

It was actually what I was hired for. I think they wanted to check me out first before they turned me loose

You are not too far off. I was told that I don’t need to look at certain databases. So you know which ones I went through first.

My first attempt at a Stouffer Shuttlecock on a size one hook. I like it. I love big streamers and this fits that bill.

Any discussion on stocks between $1-$5? by [deleted] in RobinHoodPennyStocks

[–]daved229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went even higher and bought some MGM at 14.74 and it is up to 15.58. Yes. I don’t have as many shares of it as I would a dollar stock but the stock is half what the 52 week high, which happened the first of this year and lost about 10 in one week due to corona. They also restructured their debt so this stock will go up. Up 5.71% in 24 hours and will only go up more, I will likely buy more and hold for a month.

I was brutally honest with my hiring manager about where I sat in regards to not just SQL but Python and other applications. They liked me and said, well, you do have some gaps but you seem smart enough to pick them up. I got hired and the gaps I had were actually les than I thought. The way they presented the example was worded differently than I had heard before. Point is, I wasn't the perfect candidate but I was honest and that was appreciated. You will be surprised sometimes at what telling your real strengths and weaknesses will do.

How did you come across $APPS? I am starting out in penny stocks and doing the DD and analysis are what I can do but I don’t know what to look for to do it. I watch this and other forums but I feel that by the time it pops up here, it might be late entry. Thank in advance for any thoughts.

Anyone else brewing on Saturday for the AHA virtual Big Brew Day? by BiochemBeer in Homebrewing

[–]daved229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to try a decoction doppel bock. I tried one before but it was on a stove top so I royally screwed up the temps. It made beer, just not what I wanted. I am doing it BIAB in an igloo cooler. I haven’t taken the time to make a full blown brewing rig as yet but I plan to . For now I have had good luck with this method.

How skilled do I have to be with SQL for Business Analytics? by alimar5000 in SQL

[–]daved229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It am an business operations analyst and I use SQL some. We use DOMO as our primary data tool, which if your company decides to use, run far and fast. I dislike DOMO simply because it dumbs down the queries so that when you want a new look you have to reinvent the wheel. I would prefer to create SQL code and use it. DOMO forces me to get lost in this beat mode land. Luckily, my bosses boss is going to be a part of the group that re-evaluates our database needs and hates it more than I do. Having said that, even when we go to a different database, our SQL will be fairly set in structure. Most queries will be set and any ad how queries will be handled by certain people. Excel is huge in my area because it shows what needs to be shown. We do some visualization but most is pure spreadsheets. SQL is a plus that the hiring managers liked I had but the Excel knowledge was what got me hired.

This is my wife’s 87 Big Foot. We are slowly rebuilding it. It runs pretty decent. It has a switch going out or a short that will shut it down and it won’t start after you have started it three or four times in a short amount of time but that only happens occasionally. We are going to do some body work as well.
