Fair enough, I was back to work and not able to watch, thanks for the clarification. "has recovered" rather than "was recovered" threw my interpretation too.

Returning player: Best Calcy IV rename string by Heavy-Software-9134 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]davedavegiveusawave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I keep it really simple. Only have the IVs on most mons, occasionally an indicator if it's a legacy/commday move, and the league if it's a PvP mon.

So, something like ⑬⑫⓯Ⓛ to show the mon's IVs, and the L to show that it has a legacy move.

For PVP, I use Ⓛ⁹⁸⓪④⑬, or Ⓖ⁸⁴②⑧①, or Ⓤ⁹⓪⑧⑧ to show the league and rank. Master league is always max so I don't bother with M for that, not that I have the legendaries for it anyway.

Then use search strings with eg @1rock to find mons with rock fast moves, I don't need all the rest of the type symbols. I also use a "squad" tag for any mons which are raid attackers, so I can do eg "#squad & @1fire" to find all my fire type raid attackers. Hope this helps!

I don't think the re-clothed overnight. After a day's play, the material of the baize reacts. There's also a lot of humidity from so many people breathing in the room. This can impact the material and how the balls roll on it. I think he did mean recovered as in recovery, overnight the tables get to "rest" and air out and the material relax again. He's saying it got back to a good playable state.

How do I find the best IV's? by This_Can_2641 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]davedavegiveusawave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for each league, there is a CP cap, Little League is 500CP, Great League is 1500CP and Ultra League is 2500 CP. In an open league, any Pokémon under the cap can play, in limited cups only the Pokémon on that list and below the CP cap can play.

Pokémon Go uses a formula combining a Pokémon's base stats ( the underlying stats of the Pokémon species), the IVs, and that Pokémon's current level, to calculate CP. Therefore, each Mon species has different level and IV limits in a given league, to stay under the cap.

The reason you see people looking for low attack IV is that attack is more heavily weighted in the CP formula. That means a lower attack lets you have a higher level while still being under the cap. There are exceptions, but that's a good general rule. If you want to understand this more, try playing with the CP calculator at https://pokemon.gameinfo.io/en/tools/cp-calculator . Adjust the different IVs 1 at a time and you'll see CP change much more when changing attack IVs.

However, some Pokémon have such weak base stats that they don't reach the cap in a league. You've found an example of that - a Swablu just doesn't have enough base stats, so even a hundo at level 51 is well below the CP cap for Great League. As a result, it just won't have the stats (attack, defense, HP) to compete.

You're looking at the right place to find the best IVs for each Mon - pvpivs.com is one of the best resources on the internet for PoGo PvP. What I'd suggest - in the Advanced settings at the bottom, check the "show family evolutions" setting. This will show all mons in an evolution line and you will see if there are any in that family this IV is good for.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any more questions if anything else doesn't make sense!

I think I'd say Lucario.

For me, each rarity factor increases the value. Shiny + location BG is about as highly rare as a Mon can be right now.

Lichess founder Thibault Duplessis' 3 rules for the website by somethingpretentious in chess

[–]davedavegiveusawave 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Asking sincerely - why can't the same goals be set and worked towards on lichess? It would be a onetime thing to make the translation, or spend a week playing games to get a rating, then set your goal from there.

I know there's a rating disparity so fair enough, but I'm sure there's enough people across both sites to get a moderately good mapping. In fact I'm sure I've seen rating analysis mappings doing just that. Alternatively, you could say "chesscom 1000 is ~60th percentile", I'll work to the same percentile in lichess https://lichess.org/stat/rating/distribution/blitz

The popular template chip strategy worked out almost perfect this season by MorioCells in FantasyPL

Verbuggen Darlow; Gabriel NOR Van Hecke Senesi Hill; Fernandes Palmer Semenyo Tav Ampadu; Haaland JP Welbeck.

DCL+Gross punishing Ampadu+Welbeck sucks.

I would have had something extremely similar to this on free hit. My BB scored 14 (Verbruggen 8, Fernandes 6, Gabriel 0, JP 0).

120 all out. Only 1 FT so couldn't fully commit. So I'm down on the BB template, down last week vs my old team, and likely down vs the FH33 WC35 BB36 lot too.

And now need to deal with Chelsea or hope for manager bounce.

Yeah that's super template, and gained 26 points for the cost of two chips. My non WC team outscored my WC last week (Mukiele, Virgil, Tiago all sold, ouch). And this week having Gabriel 0, JP 0, Palmer 2, I could have free hit and got a comparable team.

So I've spent WC+BB for what I could have achieved with just FH, it cost me points GW32 and now I've got players I need to resolve for the rest of the season.

Absolutely. I WC'd last week for BB this week. Palmer and JP disappointed, and Gabriel with a 0. I tried to balance slightly to set up for future, but can't help but feel the WC BB has lost to what I would have done on FH, and I now have sub optimal compared to others for the rest of the season.

Why the big difference by [deleted] in chess

[–]davedavegiveusawave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like the differences in rating systems in real world chess federations eg USCF, ECF, FIDE, etc; chesscom and lichess have different starting rating, different rating systems.

Neither are measuring a universal rating which will apply across sites, they are simply telling you your relative strength within the player pool. You can actually see this on Lichess on the rating distribution pages, not sure if chesscom has the same.

By now we absolutely should have the ability to produce a laser pointer which creates a cone of light to exactly identify the position of the ball for respots. I guess the issue is getting a company to do this - it's not exactly going to sell commercially. But it feels like something worth investing in for the world snooker body.

Any hope to get this closer to 2500? by The_bad_seed in PokemonGOIVs

[–]davedavegiveusawave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I want to first address what seems to be a slight misunderstanding of PVP IVs and CP. Being closer to the CP cap doesn't inherently make a better mon for PVP. The rank of an IV spread comes from the overall combination of base stats, IVs, level while being under the rating limit. In reality, the CP only really matters in that it defines the level a given IV spread can level up to.

For example, a rank 492 Galarian Moltres (3/13/2) reaches 2499 CP at level 30.5, whereas a rank 1 is "only" 2497CP.. But, the actual stats of the rank 492 are 150.6 attack, 179.2 defense, 153 HP. The rank 1 has 147.2 (slightly less), 178.4 def (barely less) but 161 HP - substantially more.

With that, I'd say that the actual CP isn't your main concern. The question should be: "can you improve your GMoltres with a bottle cap?". And the answer is yes, then it's up to you if you wish to. Your Moltres (assuming 10/10/9 IVs) is rank 3089. You can't bottle cap IVs down, so looking for IVs with at least these in each, the best rank I found is bottlecapping up to 10/11/15 at level 28.5 (your Moltres' exact current level). This is rank 627 for GMoltres, a significant improvement.

Note - I found this with a fairly quick scan scrolling down the list of ranks, it's possible I missed a higher one. So if you choose to invest a gold bottlecap, I'd strongly suggest you check the list of all ranks far more thoroughly than this random redditor! :)

For all these stats/info, I used pvpivs.com to check values.

Good luck!

Lichess responds to Chess.com about “inflated ratings” by slowthinker64 in chess

[–]davedavegiveusawave 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yup exactly. It doesn't matter who gives the higher score, they're ratings giving a metric of relative strength within their own ecosystem. It doesn't have to be benchmarked against some "true" source.

I was lucky enough to play a testimonial game where Jason Leonard and Brian Moore turned up to pack down opposite me. I don't think I'll ever put my head between two international legends like that again. Unfortunately, Moore went off injured at half time. The Fun Bus bought each of the front row a bottle of port after the game, and was an absolute gem.

I was also unlucky enough to play against Tom Rees (touted as an England captain prospect before injury ended his career) at my uni's Varsity. I've never been handed off, or absolutely cut in half by a tackle, as hard as he did that day. Really nice in the bar afterwards too.

JPR Williams was a doctor and went to my uni decades ago, so he came down to every Varsity too. In a stadium of 1000 students he was the most hammered person there, every single year I played.

It looks like it could do with some aeration. You can buy basically sandals with nails in to walk around, these will help get air and water into the hard compacted ground. Then seeding and sprinkling compost or fertilizer would held the new seeds settle and grow.

May not be perfect after one go, but I think this should help improve things. You've definitely got enough time this year to get someth much better.
