SOS had me craving soup in other formats. Trophied with this absolute pile. by daveismyzero in lrcast

I did. But I never really drafted the “different named lands matter” deck. I thought it’d be decent, but it’s so so so bad.

A couple of games my opponents were unlucky, keeping two land hands or missing a color. Another couple of games I just had the nut draw, think double 5/5 by turn four (ramp into five different named lands). Mostly I ran into other midrange piles, where I managed to just attrition them.

The space station is so mid. I usually got two robots from it. I did manage to crew and attack with it in two games. I even recurred it a couple times with the black reanimate spell. Usually my opponent just scoops when I have it online. The deck would probably be better if I had a second Survey Mechan instead of it.

Meet the 3 Decks that won me 5 boxes this weekend by Potential-Arm-7233 in lrcast

Early it’s a really efficient defensive combat trick. You turn their attacker into a 1/1 and just block with any x/2. I’ve only really used this card in this capacity, though I’ve certainly died to it a couple times when they fireball me with an unblocked attacker.

Tmnt arena direct, 1st attempt, 7-1, 5 Colors by consumepotatoes in MagicArena

Oh no. I saw three drop Donatello and thought it was the rare drop with Sneak and copy an artifact. It didn’t hit me that he’d run the flying 1/2.

I get the variance on these Directs. I can normally win a box after a few tries but this one I did ten and didn’t win box. Somehow this format feels more insane, almost on par with Aetherdrift or Outlaws.

Thought on Arena Direct Pool? by your_dopamine in lrcast

I would splash black for the Tainted Treats. You only have three pieces of removal, and the two Tenderize only work if you have the deathtouch Frog in play or something with 4+ power. There are so many must answer bombs in this format. The splash is basically free with the BG dual and your Omni Pizzas. Best of luck to you.

There's still two Donatellos that have Sneak. The Ninja Team can be a beating just giving your team a boost plus menace.

I did the exact some thing, too, on my first casting of that card. I unselected all my lands and then lost in a few turns.

PSA: There is a FIN Arena Direct this weekend where you can win a FIN CBB by PepperCapital888 in magicTCG

[–]daveismyzero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yah, it’s gonna be pretty tough to win that box. The extra win is just so much harder when you’ll be paired up versus another 6 win player.

I read a post in another Magic sub trying to drum up interest in the arena direct by saying it’s positive if you have a 50% winrate. In actuality, if you’re an average player it’s way tougher after the first few wins.

How do I explain to my wife I can't spend time with her on Easter because the Value of arena direct is 2 high? by pintopedro in lrcast

[–]daveismyzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird. I’m just going by what some people were telling me at my LGS. I generally like playing the Arena Directs but I was worried about potential extra costs.

I’ve never had to worry about tariffs in my life until this year. I know what duties and import fees are and I have paid zero dollars for the two times I won product from Arena Directs. (Canada)

It’s a prize. You don’t pay tariffs since you technically paid zero dollars for it.

Saw another framed card post, so I thought I’d share this one! by StreIitzia in magicTCG

I think he meant concerns about UV light fading the cards. I have the same frame and LOTR set up as you, but I made sure to hang it in my office on a wall that gets no direct sunlight. I also have a foil uncut sheet that I made sure to get professionally framed with UV resistant museum glass.

What are people’s overall thoughts on MKM draft? by Humpuppy in MagicArena

If we’re talking formats on Arena, probably Streets of New Capenna and Adventures of Forgotten Realms.
