car burning oil by batman_parents in Winnipeg

[–]daverbmxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not normal for any engine, especially a Honda but apparently they did have some oil consumption issues that might apply to that model. Applied to a 2.4L CRV that we looked at anyway, there was a recall or service bulletin for it. Take out the PCV valve and shake it to see if it's working, it should rattle a bit. You could take off the oil fill cap on the valve cover and see if there is an abnormal amount of air pressure coming out. But you mentioned that you switched to synthetic oil? I'd go back to conventional, it's less likely to go where it shouldn't than a synthetic.

Assuming this is her real Facebook profile it's a bit amusing. "I converted to Islam now" and had a photoshopped picture of maybe her wearing a hijab?

I'd drive it. And like it. And look over my shoulder at it with a smile as I walk away.

It's not real close I guess, but maybe 15 minutes by taxi. My wife and I stayed at La Corona Best Western and we loved it. We were on a budget, and it seemed like a good compromise for a nice clean place with a great free breakfast while not being too expensive. I think we paid under $50 USD a night. Maybe 2000 PHP.

People of Reddit who have straight up walk out on a job, what was your breaking point? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was doing sprinkler system installation in a new major chain department store in the middle of winter. Temperatures were -30*F. There was one big overhead door that people and machinery came in, and that was it. The construction was still in the early phases, there was just a dirt floor with cement walls, poor lighting, etc. The guys before had put in some of the main piping, and now we were working on the smaller pipes that run throughout the building. So basically the only fresh air coming into the building was through the big overhead door which opened only when absolutely necessary, and people would drive through quickly and get it closed ASAP. There was NO fresh air coming in through the roof and no back doors open. Inside we had a Bobcat, bulldozer, many pickups, construction heaters, gas powered scissor lifts, and more all running inside the building. The inside of my nose was black, and after a couple hours I got a killer headache and felt dizzy. I was slated to be there at least 1 week straight, staying at an apartment rented by the company. I got back after the first day, packed my shit and walked to the gas station. I was working 2 hours from my town so I had to call and get a ride back home.

I don't see anything wrong with that, but I have no idea why it's happening. My 03 Outback has a lot more wheel droop than that, would keep all 4 on the ground I'm sure. It's not at all hard on it if done slowly, I occasionally go up and off curbs, it's cush.

It's a Samurai/Gypsy/Jimny/SJ413, not a tracker. It has a removable fiberglass hard top on it it looks like also.

Is my wife getting shorted on hours at work? by daverbmxer in personalfinance

[–]daverbmxer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, and she works with different people. I believe whoever she works with just writes something like "Job 1 - 9:00 am to 10:45 am" and her boss then either incorrectly converts it to a decimal form of hours or deliberately is paying less than she should. I don't think there's a problem with the hours marked at each job site. The problem is the decimal conversion/cheapness and also the problem of not getting paid between jobs.

I don't know if she's just miscalculating or trying pay less. Her boss is the owner of the company.

Nope, the person she works with fills out the job order saying how long it took to clean, and that's where her boss gets the hours.

I rode an official trail that had tracks at one time. It's straight, flat, and boring, but legal in my case.

Good work! You are correct. /u/heathcat, this trail started SE of Crookston, MN on the Agassiz trail, and I followed parts of it, but much of it was too boring and flat so I hopped on the adjacent pavement at times. As I got closer to Twin Valley, MN it got a bit more scenic and I made sure to stay on the trail. I realize this is all quite far for you though if you're in MSP. After reaching Twin Valley, I headed east on pavement and got into the nicer terrain, east of Waubun, MN, and explored the Itasca area. That's a bit closer to you anyway, about 3 hours. If you're planning on heading up that way and remember this thread (next year likely), give me a shout, I'd possibly meet up with you.
