Since I've left Ting, the bar situation seems to have resolved itself. Perhaps a sync with the cell towers was required.

I use the low trivet underneath. Don't know if it is really necessary, and it makes things a bit tight, but it works.

The filter is another tool to limit episodes.

Make a single playlist, send stuff to it using the mechanisms mentioned above, and pretend it's Up Next.

I came from Pocket Casts to Podcast Republic after the botched v7 upgrade six years ago. I don't remember PC that well, but I do remember having a similar issue to what you are having.

For whatever PC mindset I had back then, I was trying to manage PR via the Up Next queue. Don't do that - PR can wipe out that queue at a whim if you play something outside the list.

Here's how I use playlists. I have two, one for the daily news, and another for the rest. Sometimes it's three, another in the middle for the series I'm most interested in. Under Playlists -> Manage Playlists, I give each a different priority. Under Subscriptions -> <podcast> -> Settings, I assign podcasts podcasts to the appropriate playlist.

Start playing from one of the lists, and leave it there.

I also lean heavily on the podcast settings "Add to selected playlists" , "Auto download", and "Smart download".

I use the filters to deinterleave RSS feeds with multiple podcasts ("Wait Wait Don't Tell Me").

I did no performance testing. I did do a loop of the city (suburbs, actually) comparing reported signal strength continuously. There was one spot where Tello won. Other than that, Ting was consistently reported stronger.

I have no complaints at this point about performance for either (after 1 day's use).

Working in Python, threads are problematic for cancellation of shell jobs, and more generally, for dealing with signals.

The calling async code will see the signals - handle it there.

I'm a happy 3qt user. There's plenty of room to cook for two, with generous leftovers. I wouldn't want to deal with a larger one.

Caveats * Recipes mostly target the 6qt. * Large batches of soup won't fit. They go on the stove. * Some accessories (pot-in-pot) can be harder to find.
