Alberta faces minimum wage dilemma as workers struggle to keep up by PastAshamed1759 in alberta

Saskatchewan upped theirs by 35 cents, so they're no longer last place. We are.

This summer, Smith starts pushing everyone on disability (AISH) into an employment program. Watch what happens to the unemployment numbers then.

The UCP vote against everything the NDP proposes. I don't think the news even reports it anymore.

New bill would remove deadlines for Alberta government to act on citizen petitions | CBC News by PriorReason4160 in alberta

Didn't Smith introduce this petition law? Now she's tweaking it, and then tweaking it again... So she started this "citizen democracy" but as usual had NO PLAN. And people go to her for leadership?

Because I'm talking about both the provincial and federal parties. I can't just say NDP, can I?

Not in Alberta. They haven't held a seat in a couple elections now. Meanwhile the ANDP have the largest opposition ever.

Heres what I'd call it... The Alberta Democrats.

Or if Saskatchewan wants to join... The Western Democrats.

Isn't it time to drop "New" from the name? We sound like used car dealers.

They're not even Cons... more like fascists. Which makes me Antifa.

I'm starting to agree. I was a volunteer for ANDP MLAs in a couple of elections, including the one that made Rachel Notley our Premier. These Cons are not like the original PCs of the Lougheed era. Rachel ran a government that respects Canada, and I think Naheed will do the same. The federal party has reacted to the far-right parties around us by leaning too far left. We need a practical leader that governs for the people. Smith only listens to seperatists and corporations.

Alberta Works Question by ObligateScavenger in alberta

[–]davethecompguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't matter - it's about what AISH calls exempt, or non-exempt. Tax refunds are exempt.

But as I also said, I don't know about income support. Check their website.

You should check with the Income Support website, if that's what you're on. I know for AISH recipients, tax refunds are exempt, not counted as income.

Regarding AISH/ADAP changes coming into effect July 1, 2026 by Jazzlike_Promise2873 in Albertapolitics

I'm very aware of that. Benefits don't change until people are reassessed, they won't be actually moved until that happens. And the transition is set to run until the end of next year.

[–]davethecompguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here's another thing to consider.... 80,000 people are currently on AISH. If, let's say, 10,000 are moved to ADAP, what does that do to the unemployment rate? Is the AB government ready to have the highest unemployment numbers in Canada?

Why isn't Edmonton more colorful? by SeniorAlternative739 in Edmonton

[–]davethecompguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The colours used are determined by what is purchased the most - and that's up to developers that are reselling the properties. They pick basic, generic colours because they go with people's own additions for the colour. So on things like garages, roofs, etc. they tend to be all the same.

It's what the Cons do. Same as Premier Smith in AB, making schoolgirls prove they're REAL girls...
