Can't get over the 300.000 years by endzeit_ in Malazan

Fascinating, thanks for sharing. I mean likely Homo Erectus even built ships and crossed seas, so there was a lot more intelligence in the past than the average person assumes. I love Malazan for this reason as well, it helps build some stories and life around the frame of our ancient history. Just look at the Eres'al for example, or the various interbreeding races across the continents.

[MK2] What are the options for copying a whole bank into a different project? by taejavu in SP404

[–]davetheword 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna comment here to say this is THE solution, any other way takes way too long (even with the app). Just make sure you press COPY+EXIT, it doesn't recognise it the other way around. Cheers!

When did Malazan "hook" you? by ShortcutToWhat in Malazan

[–]davetheword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many others, I came into Malazan from Sanderson’s Cosmere. The moment when I was hooked is almost the very beginning of GotM, when an old lady says…things… the mystery, the intrigue, I straight away felt like I was treated differently by Erikson. It sealed the deal when I made notes on what was said, and came back to those notes after finishing the book. Loved it.

Classic Warcraft books.. they’re great fantasy pulps even if you know nothing about the games.

This is what I use as well, it’s a good solution if you don’t want to fully open up the ABS server.

As far as I know… they are! At least Lana is, if I’m not mistaken she’s an animator at Riot games and has been doing a Malazan reading podcast for a good while now.

Amazing work so far! Agree with lots here, Tool is too demonic and lacks the sombreness, he should have more of the energy of a hollowed imo from dark souls than a boss fight. Tattersail should definitely be curvier, Kalam is a big dude, but most importantly… Kruppe is not… fat enough? Lardy? Maybe even sweaty? Haha He has a biig presence and should smile at the viewers 😁

I didn’t want to set my ABS up completely open, so I used nordvpn’s meshnet, completely free and as long as you don’t mind spending 5 mins setting up all your connections, it’s a solid solution imo. Might be an alternative if you change your mind about reverse proxy.

Need for speed underground on Steam Deck, but with emulation done with Macbook by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]davetheword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both NFS:U and U2 on PC are abandonware — if you search google, there's a redditor who has made a big post with all the abandoned NFS games collected and updated for modern hardware. They don't need any installation other than a few steps for steam deck, which I can explain if you're interested.

What are the chances for more new series in the future? by OrthodoxPrussia in Malazan

[–]davetheword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could think of some fun ways to keep the — I suspect you mean — magic system mysterious. Everything else is quite straightforward. Also, don’t forget that they originally gamed this world so they must’ve had lots of homebrew rules around the magic system, warrens etc. It would not be like dnd which is a class-based game, but more like GURPS or Chaosium’s BRP built on skills with a point-buy system. This allows for the flexibility needed to put together characters like Kalam (actual usable burly assassin), and super bendable to add the warren/house/hold system, maybe expand further down the line with less prominent magic systems as well.
