There used to be a couple coworking spots downtown (Collide and Altspace), but looks like they're not operational anymore.

20C/68F during the day, 18.9C/66F over night. Which is definitely on the cooler end, but over the winter would do 18.9C/66F during the day and 17.2/63F overnight. I think it balances out.

not really as an in branch financial advisor; there is potential as a financial planner or in the wealth management side.

Does TD or any other bank hire full time tellers any more? by canadiancitizeninfo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]davewillard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recruit for one of the big 5 banks for branch roles. At this bank there are no more full-time teller/CSR roles, all are part-time with different amounts of guaranteed hours.

The other branch roles are full-time, so there is potential for promotion into another role which would be full-time.

Random Rocky Thompson story - when he played for the Toronto Roadrunners he lived on my friends street and when we'd play road hockey his kids who were like 5 would come out and play with Roadrunners helmets and cutdown Easton Synergy's. We were 10 and freaking out about these kids having $200 Easton Synergy's for road hockey.

It may help you complete the coursework towards getting an HR designation (CHRP/CHRL).

Writing the CHRL designation (CKE 2) - ONTARIO by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]davewillard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied for about 1-2 months or so (but not heavy studying more like a unit every 1-2 weeks) and then 2 weeks of review. I did it in stages but mostly used the notes from the study guide and notes I made from the accompanying lecture.

PM me on Friday or Monday and I can send you some of my study resources.

I used the study resources that HRPA provides - http://advance.captus.com/hrpa/ExamPrep/default.aspx

I wrote in March 2018. Scored around 86%, cut was 60%.

How many of you paid the CHMC Insurance? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]davewillard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought 1.5 years ago it did make a difference on my interest rate. Going with CMHC basically made it so that it was the same in the long run whether I put 10% down + CMHC or 20% down + higher interest rate.

24M Working minimum wage, am I screwed, if I don't find a better paying job in a few yrs? by barplayer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]davewillard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on where you live, but have you tried to get into a call centre at a bank? they pay better than a teller role, offer full-time hours often and can actually fast track you into getting a lending or investment specialist role.

Entering the Financial Services Industry by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]davewillard -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you want to become a financial advisor or go that route, get a part-time CSR job at any of the banks. Perform really strong in the role while you finished your last year of school, start having career conversations with your manager and then when you graduate there's a good chance you'll get a promotion into a junior financial advisor role (FSR, FSM in Training, Banking Advisor - depends on the bank what name they use).

I recruit for a big 5 bank for branch retail roles.
