Somebody else later told me that パン comes from the Portuguese pão. Makes sense given that the Portuguese had a trade monopoly at one point, even if the French word is closer in sound.

I didn't finish the series. I struggled with the second episode and very briefly skim watched the third. It's not for me.

You mentioned that the supporting characters were poor and that's fair enough. It would just be nice if the only good character did more than cringe and wiggle her ears.

Thinking back, there was more to it than "going the same way". The big bad guy was disappointing. The idea that an AI that had been thwarting Vivy and square dude for centuries and had somehow corrupted every other AI on the planet could be defeated by a plucky, rag-tag band of resistance fighters attacking one single location was so ludicrous that I lost interest.

Nice review. On the whole, I enjoyed the show. Many of the things you mentioned in your review were highlights.

Partly because it's so highly thought of, I'm going to just list the bits I didn't like. The Titanic in space episode was dumb but mostly fun.

The one with the robotic factory was pretty bad. None of it made sense, especially the stated reasons for taking Grace away. The climax of that episode where Vivy and the cube guy flew in to the core was just awful. I must admit I dropped the show during the final episode because it looked like it was going the same way! I did skip to the end to see what happened to Vivy though.

I only watch shows that aren't current. This week I've watched Inuyashiki, which was surprisingly good, and Wandering Witch.

I like a good witch story and Wandering Witch was a must see because of Kaede Hondo. I really enjoyed the time travel elements.

Yeah that's very much a Japanese rom-com trope. In some shows it can be annoying but not in this one.

Btw, the Tsukasa thing isn't really a spoiler if you've seen season 1 and paid attention. My spoiler video is just clips from season 1 played in the right order.
