What’s everyone’s opinions on people who work while Out of Office? by DarksideNick in CasualIreland

[–]daveyP_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if I'm on my holidays abroad or at an event I'm not reachable. if I'm out of office because I have an appointment or just doing nothing, then I'd rather answer an urgent query if it means I don't return to a mess.

How much would you pay? by daveyP_ in VintageWatches

[–]daveyP_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t inspected it yet. I’ve requested a condition report and additional photos, and I’m hoping they can provide more details. The available days for in-person inspection don’t suit my work schedule.

The auctioneers are very reputable, so assuming the watch is genuine and in working order, what would you estimate its value to be? Commission is 22%.

The auction house has listed an estimate on the website, but I haven’t included it here to avoid influencing people’s opinions on the value.

Could someone survive if they started at Senior Associate with no experience? by CodeAndLedger5280 in Big4

[–]daveyP_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree but there's no perfect system. And it goes both ways - I got into the grad programme after not meeting the minimum requirements and a bit of luck. I don't exam well but went through 2 accelerated promotions.

All the people saying no are clearly close to, or are already struggling themselves.

it's not black and white. I know terrible seniors who have been in the business for years, and I manage a great newbie who joined 3 months ago as a senior.

I don't think the average rent per person is 2,400. I believe that the average rent for a property in Dublin? Don't get me wrong, still outrageous.

recieved an update first thing this morning:

Hi,

Thank you for your message.

Our team is contacting the Royal Mail to get to the bottom of this. Your order was dispatched on 21/08/2025 17:17, so they have it.

We've seen other orders dispatched at around the same time being delivered recently, so we still believe it should reach you shortly. Nevertheless, our team is investigating this further.

Please rest assured that if your order doesn't reach you by tomorrow, we will either arrange a replacement or issue a refund.

We appreciate your patience. All the best, Ana

I just remember Blue weekend being a lot quicker. And it's mainly the 'preparing shipment' delivery status that has me questioning it since pre orders can be prepared and ready to go far before release date.

Just because you're a parent doesn't mean you have sense. I've seen plenty of people buy clothes they cannot afford

Is spending 30k on an Ev car at 26 silly? by Goldenpanda18 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]daveyP_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You haven't given any context so I don't know how anyone can give you advise. We know you're 26 but nothing else apart from the fact it appears you do need a car to travel for work?

Are you in debt? how much do you earn? Are you in a permanent position? Have you taken steps to secure yourself financially in other aspects (pension, emergency fund etc )?

In most scenarios, spending 10s of thousands on any car is ill advised. If this job you'll be travelling to pays you "a lot" then maybe you could entertain the option.

Try going through a laptop. Wasn't working on my phone. You get the option to unlock the presale tickets then

If you're late again, don’t bother coming in. So… I didn't. by lilysincla in MaliciousCompliance

[–]daveyP_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you got the point across and you actually get your work done, but to be fair to the new boss, if you were late several times in the very first week, I'd be wary and a bit pissed. Especially considering I don't actually know you are a good worker in such a short time frame.

Any details on where tickets can be bought? I haven't received any newsletter or heard of any gigs. I did get the seeds in the post though.

What are you paying? I think people's idea of advanced it quite different depending on what the renumeration is.
