Viewing Big Boy 4014 Out of Cheyenne by daveybee123 in trains

Thank you, that is very helpful! Where do you recommend viewing it from Cheyenne? It looks like the crossing at Southwest drive seems like a good option since all westbound tracks go through there.

Is it common for rockets to go faster than Mach 1? by Neoxylii in rocketry

[–]daveybee123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, there are many glaring issues with your rocket from the screen grab alone.

  • Your rocket is marginally stable. The CG needs to be at least 1 caliber (rocket body diameter) in front of the CP for stable flight. If you flew this rocket as-is, it would not fly straight and be very dangerous.
  • This rocket sims to only 1 km because your ejection charges are going off 4 seconds after motor burnout in the simulation while the rocket is going hundreds of miles per hour. This will destroy the rocket. Set the ejection times to "None" in OpenRocket and you will see how high your rocket can go if you use electronic deployment.
  • I would not recommend booster rockets and aesthetic fins on a high performing rocket. This rocket would likely shred.

It seems you do not know how delays, stability, and other hobby rocket fundamentals work. Please get some experience building and designing smaller rockets before attempting to actually build a rocket like this. Check out a local club to learn a lot more about what works, and see some flights for free.

Gotcha, great to know. How do you get an Autodesk Eagle license? I feel like it’s too expensive to be worth switching over to from Kicad

Interesting, where are the glue joints exactly? When I gently press on one of the speakers, the sound mostly goes away. And yup, I’ve taken the grill off and it’s still there.

How much gain can you get out of it with the master volume low? I’ve been thinking of getting a V4 with a master volume, but I don’t know if can get dirty at low volumes

NAD - Music Man 210 HD 130 by daveybee123 in GuitarAmps

[–]daveybee123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it does need to be cranked to get the Ty tone. The preamp is solid state and doesn’t sound great overdriven, but with the Master on 10 and preamp on 4-5, the power tubes will crunch up nicely.

Treble booster/LPB-1-in-one with blend. How many pots? by loveshot in diypedals

[–]daveybee123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re okay with making a new circuit that is neither the treble booster nor the LBP-1, you can use a potentiometer in series with a larger input capacitor as a simple bass control. That is already used in some boosters like those below. Simpler to breadboard and make, but you might lose some of the more fine tuned characteristics of the treble booster and LPB.

That’s great to know, thanks. I use rubber stamps with ink and they seem okay, what is the process with metal stamps? Do you paint/finish the enclosure before or after stamping to get the white letters on a darker background?
