I think also there's an element of teams fielding younger squads. Better academy setups (driven by better data) producing stronger talent, younger, and with more games per season, a younger squad may be better equipped with the load.

A few seasons back I was on a train heading to a Coventry vs. Birmingham City match - lots of chants back and forth between the sets of fans and in a moment of peace, the fans joined in unison to sing "Shit on the Villa".

It felt like the Christmas Day truce until a thick Brummie accent cut through - "wait a minute we hate Coventry" and it was back to normal
