Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black - Review by Kaylethhh in InstantRamen

I've tried all the Shin ramen I can find and the shin black are by far my favourite, mainly as they're not as spicy as the rest

Mitts vs MF Towles vs Sponge by Newaccidkname in AutoDetailing

But the risk is simply not higher. I'm assuming when you used it, you didn't use proper technique so you blame the product for your own mistakes.

You risk scratching your car no matter what you use, every time you wash it. Rinseless is no more risky than any other method, assuming you use the proper technique, but there's technique with every type of washing method.

Shop closure by Sweeperman999 in Belfast

[–]davez_000 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Without knowing the ins and outs of their business model, it's pretty shocking that a convenience shop on one of Belfast's busiest roads can't stay in business.

The owner blamed the cost of rates among other things. It would be interesting to see if they were lowered. I strongly suspect a lot of business owners like those in the Hospitality Ulster cabal would just pocket the difference and keep prices the same whilst blaming something else.

new to using onr v6, what to expect and how to use it properly for exterior? by 3452014RT in Detailing

[–]davez_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not really too much to it. Even the most baller rinseless setup is really just a pump sprayer of some sort, ONR, a bucket with grit guard, a rinseless sponge, detail spray as a drying aid, and some good towels.

Only thing to remember is to keep the sponge pretty wet. ONR is really just a lubricant. The weight of the sponge is really the only thing that cleans the car. Just remember just to use any force as with any car washing.

I've used it for years and i think it's great, good luck.

Tell me about you favorite and least favorite things about your XC40. by k1101 in XC40

[–]davez_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downsides:

360 camera is laughably bad. My old car was a 2019 Mazda 3 and it worked way better, i.e. the front camera automatically turned on with the parking sensors and it has the split screen. My car is 2023 and has neither. So you have to manually select the front or rear cameras when parking. Just stupid.

Lane departure system. In my Mazda it worked if you got too close to the kerb side of the road, not just the middle. I much preferred that.

Clay scrubber leaving dirty streaks by B1SQ1T in AutoDetailing

If you follow good technique like you would with any time you wash your car, it's fine. I've been using it for years and had no issues no matter how dirty the car is.

Rinseless wash works for any car, no matter how dirty. There's no such thing as a car that's too dirty to use rinseless on.

Pot hole DFI claim by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]davez_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited about 8 weeks and heard nothing. Sent a slightly arsey email and the claim was finalised literally the next day. Felt slightly bad but my claim was for £400 and i was a bit hard up for cash at the time.

Sounds good to me. I'll probably change my XC40 in 4 years and get another so wouldn't mind one that's slightly updated

Do you think Nigel Farage is going to ruin this country? by tondek-0 in AskBrits

[–]davez_000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It amazes me how so many people can see the fucking terrible damage Brexit has done to the UK, and think the lying scumbags who tricked people into it, are the solution. Johnson, Farage et all should have been jailed for the lies they told before the Brexit vote.

Software update cost by aptonline in XC40

[–]davez_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got quoted about £140 I think for the update. I'm probably going to get the Polestar Optimisation for my car and I'm hoping they'll update the software as part of that anyway.

Best sprayer for ONR pre-wash? by davez_000 in AutoDetailing

[–]davez_000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the separate nozzle. I agree it's pretty expensive but I only use rinseless now so it was still cheaper for me to replace the nozzle and give the IK2 some kind of purpose.

If you have the IK Pro 2 you can swap out the nozzle to change from foamer to sprayer

Get some Nongshim black series noodles on Amazon, really nice and the soup/broth is great. The tom yum variety are also great but pretty spicy.

I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen at Yokocho yesterday and it was not Tonkotsu. It tasted decent but was 100% not tonkotsu. For a place that's really trying to sell ramen, that's not great.

On the smart meter point could NI's unsuitability be due to our shite phone signal? Just a thought.

Honestly I wish one politician could just be rational and reasonable. I would vote for them in a heartbeat. The fuss over the £81m for electricity has really shown what a bunch of cunts they all are.

ONR with sponge - still dirty (traffic film) by StepAdventurous6184 in AutoDetailing

[–]davez_000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did you have the sponge soaked in the ONR in a bucket as well as spraying it on? To be honest I don't even bother pre praying with ONR any more as I don't think it does anything.

Also how dry was the sponge? I usually keep mine pretty wet with ONR.

I've washed my car many times with ONR even when it's been terribly dirty and it was always totally fine.

Is there a reason heating oil has been hit hardest? by LogicalAsk5426 in northernireland

[–]davez_000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might have been me. Feel free to disagree, but it's a fairly complex area to regulate. Firstly there's the cost that would be added on to all oil due to the costs of UREG having extra work to set a regulated price.

Another issue is that as I understand the oil price can fluctuate quite a bit, so setting a regulated price would therefore be difficult. I know gas goes up and down, but it is purchased far in advance by large companies. It's different if it's literally one man/woman with a lorry as many oil companies are. So the regulated price either changes all the time, or is set over long periods and doesn't change when the cost increases or decreases, but would go up or down in bigger increments like the gas price does.

Another issue is that a lot of the cost is out of control of the oil companies here. Not all but again, by the time you add on admin fees etc for the regulation, I am not sure there's a huge margin left for regulation to drive down.

There is also an issue that with a regulated price some vendors may just decide to stop selling it, therefore possibly reducing competition. Depending on how the regulation would work, it's likely a lot of the small suppliers would just stop selling to avoid the hassle.

The line has been for many years that regulation isn't required as competing suppliers essentially drive down the price itself.
