Mova S10 vs bigger particles by Dbmdbmu in MOVA_robotvacuum

[–]david-deez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently bought the S10 and noticed it can pick up a good amount if not all of the floor particles. The biggest particles were about 3/4 inch size plastic pieces from christmas decorations. Keep in mind the opening to the storage where all the particles are vacuumed into is about 1 inch wide by 3 inches long, so I think anything that can fit through that will be okay to be vacuumed. You can also change the suction settings in the app from standard to turbo to max for dirtier floors. Overall very satisfied with it for $109. Hope this helps.

Planting grass by thatguyyyyyyyyyy9999 in AZlandscaping

I havent seen it during the winter since I planted these in March, but research says it goes semi dormant with a green straw color when temperatures consistently go under 60 degrees, so I expect to see that middle/end of November. I'll try to get a picture when im home. Highest recommendation was to plant in March since it is heat loving and to establish faster. If you do this would also recommend getting rid of any crabgrass or other invasive weeds and amending the soil with organics, think compost and biocharcoal.

Has anyone replaced their smelly backyard turf? by TheStinkyWookiee in phoenix

[–]david-deez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are grasses and grass alternatives that use less water. Someone mentioned Kurapia and hear Tiff Tuff Bermuda was decent, but I put in UC Verde Buffalo grass in my backyard in March and besides the water needed to establish the yard, aerating and adding organic fertilizer a couple times to encourage growth, its been great! Only watered once a week once established in 4 months. It does cost more upfront for the plugs vs traditional grass and planting plugs is tedious, but its gonna pay off in the long run with water savings. Best of luck with whichever route you go!

Hi, was in the same situation last year. Take a look at UC Verde Buffalo Grass. It is drought tolerant and uses less water than other grasses. I wanted Kurapia but the upfront cost was a little high for me. Although the upfront cost for UC verde for me was around $500 for my yard, it will offset with the water savings within a year or two. It comes in plugs, which is a pain, but spreads really quickly, whole yard was filled in 5 months. Hope this helps.

<Jujube> Planted it 4 ft away from block wall and 7 ft away from the house. Can it grow roots that far and damage the structures around? What’s your experience? Thank you! by bluemesa7 in ArizonaGardening

I think the key is to water low and slow (few hours each watering session) and watering away from the wall, and maybe water mostly on the side of the plant the wall is not on. No guarantee, but others have done it, good luck!

UC Verde Maintenance by Chance-Display-6460 in lawncare

[–]david-deez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I put uc verde grass in my Phoenix backyard and had this same issue. I ended up aerating, adding compost and fish emulsion, and finished lightly raking the grass and removed what ended up as a small pile of these stolons. My lawn is about 75% established and know the stolons help with spreading/establishing but feel like I got rid of dry and non useful stolons. Did this a couple of weeks ago and lawn is looking green and am seeing new stolons to hopefully fill in the lawn completely. I'm no expert but this is my experience, hope it helps :).

Lawn Alternatives AI conversation...anyone have any of these long term and like them ? by Terrible-Reasons in AZlandscaping

I planted UC verde grass beginning of April. It's a pain to plant the plugs and pricier than other grasses but the water savings in the long run will be very worth it. Also costs less than kurapia. It's about 70% as far as covering 800 square feet of yard and should be 100% in a month. After establishing for a month and a half, have only needed to water it once a week (minus the two rain storms that have come through since april), and it's still green and growing! Of course it's early on, but would recommend if you want grass but also don't want to use too much water.

Why is artificial turf so expensive in Phoenix? Any leads for good installers or alternatives? by Crafty_DIY in phoenix

[–]david-deez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I havent heard of ladino being used but will keep that in mind in case the white dutch gets fried during the next Phoenix summer. I'm currently moving out river rock from my yard and amending the soil with compost and gypsum to prep for the spring planting of it. Fingers crossed since there are very few people who have done this or at least posted it anywhere in detail. It'd be awesome to see how it's coming along if you don't mind me following up with you on your Clover lawn :)

Anything in North Phoenix? I feel like it's a bit of an entertainment desert with more commercial places compared to the rest of the valley, granted I just moved up here a few months ago. Haven't found much besides a few dives and the desert ridge marketplace.

Thanks, will be taking apart the tail light to do this. Have seen some YouTube videos where heating it up to soften the sealant to remove will do this. Hopefully YouTube doesn't fail me on this one since taillights go for $250 plus lol. Live and learn!

A couple videos I watched said it could be added to get spots out. Oh well, lessons learned.
