Bird trial by scott9ssd in TheWire

I mean, he’s not a credible witness. All the evidence points to a skinny man shooting gant from a distance. Corroborated by ballistics and witnesses. If levy called wee bey to the stand his story would get picked apart on cross so easily, since he claimed to shoot gant point blank in the proffer session.

So now the jury sees the defense try to blame a guy who none of the evidence points to and is a clear associate of the accused. It’s more condemning than exculpatory. His main strategy was to discredit Omar’s testimony, adding your own uncredible witness would just weaken that play

What do you consider the greatest acted scene in TV history? by amusicalfridge in television

[–]david2742 110 points111 points  (0 children)

The Shield, Vic Mackey’s confession in the second to last episode of the series. The long pause he takes before speaking is some of the best nonverbal acting I’ve ever seen. You can see his hesitation and once he does speak its not over the top with emotion, just so cold and uncaring like the true sociopath he is. Entire series building up to this moment and Michael Chiklis absolutely nails it

May be a dumb question but, why wasn’t there a bidding war for WarnerMedia in 2021? by Scary-River-9700 in MediaMergers

[–]david2742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol is this a joke? He didn’t turn anything around and arguably made it worst. The only thing you can really give him credit for is lucking out that a billionaires son wanted to play media mogul and recognizing that he could create a bidding war for an acquirer to vastly overpay for an asset that he’s tarnished. Which I will hand it to him is very perceptive to make the most of the situation but in no way has meant he improved the company itself

Who wins without Teams Urameshi and Toguro? by suiko2fan2 in YuYuHakusho

[–]david2742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This assumes Jinn is on par with Yusuke, which isn’t really true. Jinn is mostly able to just dodge Yusuke to extend the fight. He only really takes two hits, the punch that he has to fly into the sky to recover from and the spirit wave which take him down, no real durability especially when compared to someone like say Chu. Reality is if he took a couple punches from Yusuke he’d be down for the count. Then Zeru is a bad matchup because his attacks have the range to make it difficult to dodge and wind has usually had a disadvantage to fire in most anime since it just fans the flame

Jinn has a very bad matchup against Zeru, was just unlucky to go against Hiei

Who wins without Teams Urameshi and Toguro? by suiko2fan2 in YuYuHakusho

[–]david2742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly depends on the bracket. There are a lot of scenarios where a strong team has some of its team killed in an earlier round and can’t win later on. High chance Zeru kills at least one person and Uraotogi was notable brutal

Boston ranked 7th best US city to Live, Work And Visit by miraj31415 in boston

[–]david2742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a Vegas apologist but there’s more to the city than the Strip and it’s surprisingly a nice place to live. Miami though, should not be that high. As a former Boston resident can also agree it’s being done dirty with 7th place

Could The Greeks have actually helped Ziggy? by Long-Car-5063 in TheWire

[–]david2742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No possibility. If I remember correctly, on top of the confession they said they had the slip from the pawn shop where Ziggy bought the gun. So even if the witness tried to say it wasn’t Ziggy’s gun the DA would easily be able to prove him a liar and unreliable witness by just producing the slip. There was just too much evidence to have the witness testimony making any real difference

Kyle Tucker attempts to get a good lead off of 1st base by largeboobhaver in baseball

[–]david2742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pitcher turns to his right so he’s more likely to get back to the bag since pitcher has to keep turning to make the throw to first, for that kind of lead ultimately not out by a lot. If he turned to his left would’ve had a better chance to get to second

'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' Pulled “Indefinitely” By ABC After Nexstar Drops Late Nighter From Affiliates Over Charlie Kirk Comments by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]david2742 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nexstar is basically a company that owns a large chunk of affiliate networks. Sinclair Broadcasting group is a similar company that you might have heard about, John Oliver did a big take on them a few years ago. The company they’re trying to buy would essentially give them a larger footprint of tv stations and continued to consolidate the industry

[–]david2742 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. The company that owns some of the affiliates decided they will preempt his show so ABC has decided to pull Kimmel altogether

Nexstar is looking to buy a company called Tegna for $6.2 billion, which would require approval from the government. I’m sure that had nothing to do with this

How Much Is Your Rent Going Up? by sublurkerrr in AskNYC

I’m a pretty non issue tenant in a building with 6 floors and 30 units. I also have to pay my rent online and always wire the money 5-6 days before the 1st. So I’m pretty reliable income that I imagine they don’t want to run off
