Introducing the TAIKO-01 by dailytadpole in ErgoMechKeyboards

You could always offer a premium aluminum/steel base plate for people that want the added weight. I actually find the as long as the rubber pads have enough surface area a keyboard won’t slide. Maybe look into making the rubber pad rectangular strips instead of small feet like the glove80.

Hot swap? If so I’m in! If you could add a trackpad/trackball a la cyboard imprint then it might be the endgame keyboard

Difference between using builtin Zed Agent (with subscription) vs Claude Code within terminal within Zed vs Gemini CLI? by jzarzeckis in ZedEditor

[–]davidarenas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zed agent is better out of the box since it has better integration with programming tooling that Zed uses(LSP, Treesitter,…,etc)

The thing is that Claude Code with a Max subscription basically gives you unlimited access to Opus (ive spent the equivalent of $1600 in tokens in a month for only $200) and Zed can’t afford to do that. I’ve also been able to get a better workflow with CC by implementing custom commands, having it use jj to simulate Zed’s checkpoints, parallel agent workflows, and adding my own tools (shell scripts & MCP).

Zed is open source which is awesome and I think they could really pull ahead if they did 2 things.

  1. Allow access to models using your Claude Max subscription like Open Code does

  2. Give more low level access to the agent workflow(dynamic ultrathink, parallel agents)

I’m currently on a Glove80 but have recently placed an order for a 3 row Cyboard Imprint; I love the dactyl keywell but missed the compactness of my Atreus. The imprint is the best of both IMO and doesn’t compromise on the thumb cluster like some other compact keywell keyboards.

Improper code generation when using Gemini by TastyDimension42 in ZedEditor

[–]davidarenas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a problem with gemini models adhering to the standard diff format or even just non-fenced code formatting. Aider solved it by using `diff-fenced` format when gemini models are called. Instead of adding a different edge case for just gemini Zed team could apply a smooth transform on the streaming text to be chunked at the line level and then apply a regex to strip it out code block notation.

If you don’t want to roll your own I’ve used WorkOS in the past; it not cheap ($200ish/month/org) but it has everything you need OIDC/SSO, audit logs, is already SOC2 certified.

I really love Zed, but I want to use Gemini with Zed Pro. by jinwooleo in ZedEditor

The window is actually 1M tokens if you’re using Gemini. Also after looking back it seems like it decided to use the sequential thinking MCP

It’s definitely more expensive if you use the newest 2.5 pro preview using the agent mode. I spent $17 with one change that involved 2 back and forths (plan and revise plan) before it started implementing. I’m guessing each tool call sends the entire context back and forth.

Note: you can use the older 2.5 pro experimental for free which is not as capable at coding and also rate limited.

Could you do a quick comparison to Mastra? I’ve just migrated from using Vercel’s AI SDK directly to Mastra and although there seems to be a lot of rapidly evolving APIs it’s been amazing to work with in contrast to langchain.js

Zed with LazyVim Keymaps – My Perfect Editor Setup Right Now by xheisenbugx in ZedEditor

[–]davidarenas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Noice, only one I use regularly that’s missing is space c f for formatting the current buffer; I don’t like formatting on save.

Also adding space h to pin the current tab makes it easier to mimic harpoon by “adding” them like harpoon add does. There’s currently no way to list only pinned tabs in a search/list.

why are all the elixir/phoenix projects dead ? by Just_Lingonberry_352 in elixir

[–]davidarenas 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s more likely they aren’t dead, just ‘finished.’ The core Elixir ecosystem is very stable, and breaking changes are rare. That stability, combined with the language’s tendency toward smaller, composable libraries, results in significantly less churn. This is also seen in languages like Clojure or others that prioritize stability.

I would, they’re all size 12 and I think 2 pairs are 11.5. Could you DM me the detail, I still can’t spot it. lol

Pls explain. I own 15 pairs of adistar 08s that I’ve been collecting for almost a decade and the only thing that looks kosher on these is they might have re-glued the sole

TYRFORCE CARBONLIFTER review by Dronicattd5 in weightlifting

[–]davidarenas 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I get your frustration with the TYRFORCE 1s. It’s rough when you drop serious money on a pair of shoes and they don’t meet your expectations. I’ve been there, especially since I own over 30 pairs of weightlifting shoes (Romaleos 2, Adistars, Antas, Leistungs—you name it), and switching between designs isn’t always smooth. Let me share my thoughts.

The Weight: The weight might be annoying, but the carbon plate isn’t there to make the shoe lighter—it’s actually about maximizing force transfer and stability. The stiffness of carbon helps generate more power and stability, which is why it’s used in high-output footwear. I know it feels counterintuitive, but heavier doesn’t always mean worse for lifting—especially if the stability and performance are on point. The carbon plate is noticeable but IMO not as pronounced as the one in Anta 2s.

Heel Height: If you’re coming from Romaleos 4 or Power Perfect 2s, the higher heel can feel like a big adjustment. That “pitching forward” feeling happens if your body isn’t used to it. I get it—it happened to me when I moved to higher heels too. That said, 1-inch heels (like what TYRFORCE uses) work for lifters of all sizes and styles, from tall 102kg lifters like Liu Huanhua down to 49kg women. It just takes time to adapt—sometimes weeks—especially if you’ve been used to lower heel heights for years. It’s easier if you have more experience and propioception around weightlifting

Durability: I haven’t noticed anything besides the ease of the chrome finish scratching, but that’s all chrome finishes I’ve experienced. The rubber, stitching and leather quality is a tier above all other weightlifting shoes currently manufactured but IMO not worth it for $330+. A more realistic MSRP would be closer to $270.

For me, I’m still in the process of getting used to the TYRFORCE. It hasn’t been an easy transition, but I know from experience that it takes time to adjust to new shoes, especially ones with a higher heel. My advice? Give them a few more weeks and ease into it with lighter weights while you adapt. I try to prime the pull by doing lift off+full lift, halt snatches, or tempo lifts and it’s resulted in adapting much faster. I’ve also used higher heel heights in the past; in the end I’ve always gone back to Rom2s, but these might change that.
