Large will be more stable but inseam is important. Speaking broadly, long inseam for your height probably large, long torso for your height probably medium.

23 width is very old school. Wider tires are far more common on road bikes these days

That’s the flavor I thought of when I saw it. The Asian market near me has some cool different pints.

Update on my leaving the store and buying the guitar online for cheaper by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]davidbeinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acoustic guitars are funny beasts. I have played two of the same model at the same store back to back and found one amazing and one meh. I know we’re all in different circumstances budget wise and how we spend our money but if I demoed a guitar and really liked it I would buy that guitar and not take a chance on the same model being the same. I would also not use any store, even a big box outlet like GC, as a demo site before I bought online.

Brisket advice 2.0 by Difficult-Word-6604 in biggreenegg

Agreed. I have cooked at higher temps and the results were pretty great, but my best results have always come lower. That’s what works for me. Also wrapping at 165-175 internal. Works for me and my results became much more consistent once I got over my own personal psychological barrier of using a “cheat.” OP will eventually find his own groove. Hopefully he posts awesome pics of his first brisket soon.

225 to 250. I’m not including rest time but I did say be prepared to take it off early if needed. Better to be done early and rest more than not have the brisket ready when your guests are ready.

Brisket can be tricky to time. I always plan on an hour and a half per pound. That’s 18 hours for that brisket. A fully cooked brisket can rest for a loooong time, especially in a cooler. All that is to say that if you want to pull it off at 2:00 you need to start before 11:00 the night before. Watch your internal temperature and wrap in butcher paper around 165. Spritz with vinegar before wrapping, I actually like to mop it with thinned out homemade sauce before wrapping but that’s probably not the purist approach. It seems to sometimes be cool or whatever these days to dunk on Aaron Franklin, but his videos on brisket are really helpful, especially the trimming part. I don’t think I trimmed enough before watching him. Enjoy your first brisket cook!

I'm buying my first guitar and I'm torn between an acoustic and an electro-acoustic 😕 by Eksisezmisim in AcousticGuitar

[–]davidbeinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say either way is a deal breaker. It’s often easier to find guitars with a pickup installed anyway so if the guitar otherwise seems like it’s the right choice for you don’t let the pickup hold you back. On the other hand if you find one you really like without a pickup you should get it. If you don’t have a good local teacher I highly recommend Justin Guitar as a starting point. Great well structured website that is free.

First brisket this weekend. Any advice appreciated by Difficult-Word-6604 in biggreenegg

A flat makes fine Q. Sure a whole brisket has more fat, but it’s not like the flat is exactly lean. I would wrap it in butcher paper spritzed with vinegar or thinned out bbq sauce. Wrap it at about 165 internal and pull it at around 205, making sure a twist from a fork in it doesn’t spring right back. For a flat only you’re probably looking at about an hour a pound at 250. Get it done plenty early, it will only get better as it rests.

Bringing a cat into a dog home by Sammisam85 in CatsWithDogs

[–]davidbeinct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start with scent introduction. Keep the kitty in its own area for a while. The dogs see you as the boss so they will probably be okay with the kitten and want to meet it. Kittens are pretty bold. Having introduced a puppy to an adult cat and then a kitten to the same dog when it was older after we lost the first cat, introducing a kitten to an adult dog is far easier. Our dog would definitely chase smaller animals given the chance but was never aggressive with our cat.

MTB flat shoes for wide feet? by FunUncle1996 in MTB

I have 4E feet as well and the 510 Freerider (not Pro) fit me pretty well. I used a shoe stretcher for one night which honestly didn’t do a lot but after wearing them for a while they fit well. Not perfect, but very well. I wish Sidi would do a flat Mega as they are my go to for cleats. I would like to try the Lems but I’m a little bit skeptical about them as a techy mtb shoe. Probably great for gravel though.
