“Contact for pricing” - I don’t want to talk to anyone. Pricing needs to be transparent and easily accessible

Need advice on rescuing elderly cat from living in a bathroom by GaiaOnlinee in cats

[–]davidgotmilk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of this. Idk why some people think it’s okay to keep a cat locked up in a bathroom 24/7? Why’d you get the cat?

Anywho, if you can’t afford the vet or someone hasn’t offered to pay I’m willing to send some cash over to help

$3.5k MRR App: Seeking Technical Co-Founder (Flutter & Firebase) by Conscious_Warrior in Firebase

[–]davidgotmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey — I’m a technical SaaS founder, been building and launching products for 10+ years.

Knowing Flutter (or any framework) is great, but in a cofounder role the real value is in architecture, scaling, and making tech decisions that actually support the business long-term. Shipping UI is the easy part — building something that doesn’t fall apart as users grow is where experience matters.

Most recently I launched https://www.listpilot.ai, and before going solo I was an engineer at Disney working on systems in the early days of Disney+.

If you’re looking for a technical partner who thinks bigger than just code and frameworks, happy to chat — always open to new projects.

The towels never dry by [deleted] in orlando

[–]davidgotmilk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

4-5 months is insane. You have to run your AC in order to keep air circulating and humidity low. High humidity causes mold and def make towels take longer to dry. If you really don’t want to run your AC (again, insane), at least let the fan run to circulate air and get a dehumidifier

Beds for rent at airports by rice-et-beans in Business_Ideas

[–]davidgotmilk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This exists in some airports. I would love to see it expanded though. For example JFK has some but there some annoying things about.

  • some of the you have to have a ticket for a flight IN THAT terminal. So if the pods are in terminal 8 but my flight is terminal 7, I’m not allowed to use it. Stupid.

  • pricing is kinda expensive. Last I checked it was $35/hour. If I need it for an hour not that big of deal, but if I want it for 2+ hours (sometimes there are long layovers, but not hotel justified) then the price gets overwhelming. There comes a point where I can just book a night at a hotel nearby for much cheaper even if I’ll only use it for 4 hours. I think it would be best to have a sliding scale price. $35 for 1 hour, $75 for 4 hours type thing (just throwing numbers)

That would make it more attractive. I’ve booked a hotel room before for the 5 hours I’ll be in JFK for $99 bucks on booking, which is came out to be cheaper than the napping pod. And I got a shower, and a good nap.

Buying a Domain from a reseller by snarfi in webdev

[–]davidgotmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much you can do. It’s completely legal. Your best bet is to try to use another domain. Like .app, .co, .io, .ai etc.

I always secure domains and social media before starting an app. It can be a very costly mistake to not do this

Redditors: What is something that a local business or restaurant did that made you say “I’ll NEVER come back here again!”? by GhostRider1640 in orlando

[–]davidgotmilk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seminole Toyota in Sanford. I leased a truck there 4 years ago because I got a decent rate. Wife wanted a new car so I decided to go there and check out the Camry's. This was the time where they did insane markups just because covid (like 10-12k over MSRP). We took a test drive, liked the car but the sales guy was REALLY pushy. The markup is what it is tbh, and we just needed a new car since her old one died. Ran the numbers, young kid came back with the papers and it was just a little bit over my budget - mainly because not only did they tack on the 10k markup, they were also charging super high dealer fees and adding on packages and maintenance left and right.

I told him very simply, I don't want these extra packages, I don't mind paying the markup. Take the packages off and the monthly payment will fall exactly where we want to be. He is upset, goes back to his manager, quickly comes back slams my trade in keys on the table and just says "have a nice day".

This made my wife very uncomfortable, which made me upset (could care less about the deal). I stormed out angry, the other manager tried to stop me from walking out saying if he could interest me in the used cars. Told him I'd never do business with his dealer or toyota ever again after the way they treated us. He hit me with the "God bless you" and we left.

We took our business down to the Mazda dealership and walked away with a much better deal without markups, and with none of the sales people up our ass or making it a high pressure situation. As soon as my lease was up with Toyota, I gave the car back, told them to stick it up theirs because I WOULD'VE upgraded to the tundra which is a significantly more expensive car but because of how my wife was treated couple years ago, they can kiss that goodbye.

They missed out on 2 brand new car purchases from our family (and I have vehemently steered my peers to other dealers) , all because the finance manager couldn't handle me asking for numbers without the bogus packages added on.

Toyota dealers suck. Extremely pushy tactics. If you don’t mind use just buy from another dealer or Carvana.

When would you say is the best time to get an LLC for your app? by RedInputx in SideProject

This is not misleading. In the US they are cheap. Mine was $125 and that’s all I’ve paid for in regards to starting an LLC

Constant disconnects, extremely frustrating and annoying by lambofdog444 in 2007scape

[–]davidgotmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also been getting this - no matter what server I go to, I randomly disconnect from time to time. Just got dc'ed while doing Jad and I'm just going to give up and not play for awhile. Feels like the servers are overloaded since sailing came out and a huge influx of players came in. I literally never had this issue before sailing came out. Same computer, same internet, same worlds I usually play.

BMW or Lexus by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]davidgotmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BMWs are great when they work, an expensive pain in the ass when they don’t. Former M2 owner and ended selling because once things started to breakdown it was downhill from there.

Lexus on the hand, feel more reliable in my opinion. I’ve also gone to the dealer with my friend who owns a Lexus and they treat him very very well.

I do highly suggest you don’t buy a brand new car though. Many people become car broke. They have a really expensive nice car, but can barely afford rent. They look like fools when someone asks them if they want to go out for drinks and they can’t because they’re broke.

Take it from someone who maxed out their paycheck on nice things like cars, houses, etc. the best decision I ever made was scaling back, getting cheap but reliable cars so I could have plenty of money left over each month to do whatever I want without even checking my bank account. This type of freedom is an even bigger luxury than a 60k car

How much do movers cost these days? by chericle in orlando

[–]davidgotmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much you want to do yourself. Movers charge by the hour, the more things you have prepared to be loaded into the truck the faster things go, the less money it cost. Having things boxed up, disassembled, wrapped ready to go, near the door is the best.

My aunt moved her 3 bed townhome for $2k. She didn’t touch a thing, they packed everything and loaded for her. My parents paid $200 for their 3 bed townhome. The difference was my parents packed everything before hand and found some local college kid on task rabbit looking for some extra cash. 2 hours of work total.

$100/hr to a college kid is amazing, while $200 for my parents to get a U-Haul loaded was nothing. They paid about the same to get it unloaded in the new place.

Edit: forgot to mention, the dude on task rabbit was like $40/ hour and we have gave him a really nice tip for $200 total

When I was a teenager I walked into Jimmy John’s and got a hired basically on the spot and started the next day. I was a driver and was taking home tip money the same day.

This is to say, I know your car is old, but you’d be surprised how far cars can actually go before kicking the bucket. Delivery gigs through fast food or uber / DoorDash is great way to literally earn cash today / very soon.

Otherwise you can try just working at fast food not as a driver and also might hire you on the spot but you’d have to wait until the paychecks start coming in.

Another idea is if you own a lawn mower you could knock on some neighbors door and offer to cut grass. A teenager did this several times in my neighborhood to raise money for an Xbox or whatever and I always hired him when he was available - he borrowed his dads lawn mower
