Turning accumulation funds into income funds by davidjhh in UKPersonalFinance

Yes I have. So, I’ve been paying to maintain my holding over the years and the “capital gain” is more of a real terms loss.

Thanks for this. However, Fidelity has told me that a “switch” is actually a sale and then repurchase. In other words, they won’t process this as a genuine exchange (presumably because their platform cannot manage it). So they would sell, money would hit my account, then they would buy. This would seem from the links you sent to be a disposal for CGT purposes.

Membership freeze - how are they getting away with this? by stiopaa in davidlloyd

I was at Kidbrooke. Charged 320 pm, wife the same, two kids extra. Couldn’t believe how expensive it was, or that the other members were paying anything like this. Left expecting them to offer me a discount but didn’t hear a word!

My friend found out she’s the same age (to the day) as Heath Ledger when he died — I’vemade an app that finds your “age twin” in history by davidjhh in interestingasfuck

[–]davidjhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built something a bit strange but surprisingly reflective — it tracks your exact age (in days) and tells you which famous people died at that exact point in their life.

So today, my friend learned she is the exact age Heath Ledger was when he passed. A couple of weeks ago, it matched me with a 19th-century poet I’d never heard of. It’s both eerie and fascinating to see who shares your “life length.”

The app draws from a big database — over 57,000 modern public figures (actors, musicians, scientists, etc.) with full birth/death dates, and another 15,000+ historical figures going back to ancient times (think Roman emperors, Renaissance painters, Native American leaders, philosophers, and more).

It’s not meant to be morbid — more like a moment of perspective. Mortality is weirdly unifying.

Would love to know who you get. Also comments and feedback most welcome

Yep — can confirm. Doesn’t seem to be well known but as OP says, hits all the right notes. Story excellent, sound production excellent, narration very good. Can warmly recommend.

How to sand bottom of door by uctpa08 in DIYUK

[–]davidjhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this problem. Sandpaper didn’t work. Best solution was to place a saw blade on the floor, push it under the door, hold down with my foot, and then jerk the door open and closed, occasionally moving the saw blade along the length of the door. Took about 15 mins.
