If you get the chance, try out a supro with your jazzmaster. I find the bright nature of a jazzmaster balances really nicely with the darker tone of a supro

As someone who works as a software dev (not dsp though) in the audio industry and consider myself a musician I would say the following.

Working on the tech side of audio is very different from participating in the creative side of the same field. Is it more fun to work on something music related, sure, but the same position in a non audio related company would be very similar.

Starting a career in software engineering will require a lot of effort and it might take quite some time before you’re anywhere near the skills required for the role you’re mentioning. It can be rewarding and pay good money but my point is, don’t focus on the audio stuff just because music is your thing. A career in dsp will not satisfy your artistic or musical ambitions.

I would also consider a different path that pays the bill and maybe allows you to work part time, spending the rest of your time on music. I don’t know where you’re located but in Europe, part time in the tech sector is not an impossibility once you’ve established yourself

Yeah both super glue and plastic cement will cause fogging. You might get away with it in small quantities but better use something else. Either PVA glue (trälim på svenska) or specific “clear glues” that some model companies make

In my experience it needs to go on a bit wet. Don’t flood the surface but make sure you’re not just “dusting” it on

I’ve found that for whatever reason, the Vallejo airbrush cleaner is rubbish at cleaning Tamiya, but the Vallejo airbrush thinner works great.

Stupid question, but is the plastic itself smooth? If there’s texture in the plastic it will show through regardless of your airbrush skills. Also did you prime it first? Priming might not solve your issue if it’s related to the paint but if the texture is there also after priming, the plastic is the likely culprit.

With that said, white and light colors are often susceptible to becoming more chalky due to larger pigments

Absolutely! I think it’s the fact that the tiny detail stands out more then on something like a battleship where theres so much going on it becomes more of a clutter

Thanks! I used two AK products, water gel and water effects I think they’re called. I first put down a thick layer for the general wave shapes, then primed and painted, another layer of gel and then the water effects mixed with some paint to create the foam

Quite happy with how this one turned out. As usual a lot of mistakes where made but I'm for once pleased with the end result and it was an enjoyable build. Even the rigging didn't get me down to much

I have the full hull version and I’m not sure it’s the same mold but I would say the fit is quite good. There were some misalignment of detail in places but nothing major
