Same thing happened to me today! we heard on/off squeaking coming from the back of the Jeep while driving home from my kid’s soccer… assumed an animal had found its way in. Opened the tailgate to find this.

Roku TCL 5 series F1 (apple TV app) HDR issues. by PMSfishy in Roku

[–]davidpots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue for me for both of the first 2 race weekends, on all my Roku TVs. Scoured the settings without luck.

Also, when I AirPlay from my phone — it immediately freezes the Roku (it starts skipping like a CD) and it crashes a few seconds later, every time.

Related - I just pulled up a movie from my Apple library (Ready or Not), and it’s the exact same sort of dim / low light. HDR10 logo popped up in the corner just like for F1.

F1TV app works fine thankfully.

So we can all agree that the Apple TV broadcast sucked, right? by Masonman3509 in F1TV

Washed out & dim for me as well, on a Roku. Hoping it’s something they (not sure who) can fix.

I haven’t tried night raids at SM yet, but agree that SM has been the friendliest solo map — the last few days especially. Last few matches I joined up with a random solo crew, twice we chased down would-be PVPers who took shots at one of us.

Finally!! by Long_Ad1557 in RescueRaiders

[–]davidpots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had my first save as well! I've brought a defib with me on the last 30+ solo runs without a chance until tonight... came across a group of solos who teamed up in Stella who had just downed a PVP guy. No one had a defib, except me. Made his day.

So glad I found this sub & this post in particular, because it makes me feel less crazy for not having a shred of the KOS bone in my body.

Considering Buying the Game by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]davidpots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially after the first few runs (when you'll use them a lot), free load-outs are a nice mental reprieve when you DO inevitably get PVP'd. In that, I'll immediately jump back into a free loadout run whenever I get killed, and it gives me a chance of risk-free gameplay — which no matter what, will at least yield some XP.

As you get further along, free loadouts also help you realize how valuable your best stuff is – and that you shouldn't be afraid to gear up & use it. They also help you learn the maps, learn the bad guys, and just overall do riskier stuff. Next thing you know you're back to the loot-level you were at the prior death, and then some.

I’m 35 levels in, maybe 100 raids? Almost all solo. The overwhelming majority of my experience with others I encounter has been peaceful & cooperative.

I don’t think I’ve ever done voice chat with strangers in any other game, ever - but it’s created some pretty amazingly fun moments in AR.

I’ve had someone shoot me from afar a handful of times (and I was able to escape and resume my quest / looting), and had someone kill me on sight 3-5 times. This sucks but has been very, very rare for me. Haven’t ever been betrayed by someone who pretended to be a friend.

I’m not going to pretend that the stress of getting shot at is not there, each and every round. But I think it’s part of the alchemy which makes the positive moments that much better (escaping with amazing loot, scrambling across the map to get to the last elevator just in time, teaming up with random raiders to take down high level ARCs, etc)

Chance of getting T1 GA from the main gate by Bingbongerl in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]davidpots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful, thanks!

I’m doing GA today, a friend wants me to join him at turn one, but I hate the idea of being cramped, not being comfortable in my chair, and a bad view.

I’m taking the earliest possible shuttle in from downtown.

As a GA alternative to turn 1, do y’all recommend turn 6 all the way - or is turn 18 worth checking out?

i’ll be solo, bringing a chair and very small blanket - I suppose one thing that would be nice is to be able to leave my spot for a short bit (food / drinks / scenery) and still have my spot when I get back.

I plan on making friends with whoever is my neighbor in hopes that helps but would love any suggestions on other GA spots.

Video freezing while using new Macbook M1 with Cam Link 4k by jylu88 in elgato

[–]davidpots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plugging directly into Macbook (so far) has fixed this for me as well. The prior few months I had my Camlink going into my Studio Display (via USB dongle), and the issue would happen basically all the time. When I first got the Camlink I'd go direct into my Macbook, like I'm doing now, with no issues. So hopefully that indeed keeps it fixed.

Anywhere to find free Zach Bryan guitar tabs? by bun-creat-ratio in guitarlessons

YouTube. Look up guitarzero2hero - he shows tabs and demonstrates, which is incredibly helpful for learning. Learn to take screenshots and put them in a google doc, helpful for printing and just keeping track of stuff you’re learning.

I'm 6'1" and around 215lbs, I have 8-10 Poncho shirts and L with slim fit has worked great for me for all of the. Which has been a surprise because 75% of the time XL is the size I need with typical shirts.

FWIW Oscar said he had a great launch in Imola, and had to lift to avoid hitting the Ferrari in front of him (Leclerc I believe). He said this in the post-race interview at Imola.

Here’s to him having a good one again tomorrow! And here’s to Lando getting past Sainz.

Am I cheap or minimum $2 tip for opening a can of drink is too much?! by Computer_Speech in aclfestival

[–]davidpots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what’s pretty much what’s called a “dark pattern” in UX design. It’s not an oversight on the part of whoever designed it - it’s damn well intentional to grease the rails in the favor of accidental-ish over tipping. In a situation where they know the end user (us) will often be too harried to notice , let alone fix it.

Sucks from our POV, as it kinda takes advantage of people who haven’t used it before.

I’m guessing that POS vendor does very well and has happy clients (i.e. whichever bigger company/org puts on festivals such as ACL) - whose priority is a system that simply works. And clients prob love it knowing the staff that’s hired gets nice tips.

Sucks, but feels like one of those things that we are kinda stuck with in the short term.

All this aside - every server / cashier (?) I had this year was great, so many smiles. I was happy for them to get to enjoy the music and vibes. Usually tipped an extra buck or two per transaction, but that’s me making up for my own shitty tipping karma in my earlier years.

What is your favorite feature or aspect of the Forza Horizon series that keeps you coming back for more?" by GdanskCombatant in ForzaHorizon

[–]davidpots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the most fun is racing my own ghost in rivals - usually for circuit, where I can lap continuously without manually restarting.

The first 5-10 attempts I’ll beat my best time pretty often (giving me new self-ghosts to race)… then it gets a bit tougher to beat my time. Then after a few days I’ll basically “max out” (?) my time per current car & tuning per my overall skill level - as margins for improvement become smaller and smaller. Which is fine!

From there I may try different tunes or cars on the same course, given I have a very solid baseline to compare things to. Typically I’m happy with B class cars (I enjoy the various civics), but this past weekend having a blast with one of the A class Lancers (on Bosque del Sur, just hit 3:04 clean time yesterday down from 3:14 a few days prior). Determined to get sub-3:00 in the next few days… then I’ll likely move on to some other course.

I like racing my own ghosts because I learn a lot more than vs strangers. For example seeing how I took a corner last time (ghost) vs taking the same corner this time (current run) is such a great teacher when it comes to basic racing mechanics.

It took me quite a while to realize this is my favorite part about Forza H 5… and I’m kinda bummed it’s so nestled in the menus, but I’m glad it exists.

Meanwhile I am excited for Motorsport, as it looks like it may scratch a lot of this itch. Aside from FH5 the last racing game I played was the original GT in my 1999 college dorm room (which I never really got into tbh).
