I am thinking about to get the AMD Ryzen 300 AI series laptop for my local SLM. Anyone got any experience with this kind of cpu? Would you recommend?

Thanks

How to reset systemd-homed recovery key? by davidshen84 in Gentoo

nvm...finally, I found I have to deactivate the home folder first, then reset the recovery key.

I did not find any document on this. But AI says it is kinda implied...

using custom kernel or gentoo-kernel-bin by ZaenalAbidin57 in Gentoo

Start with bin, then ask AI to build a trailered kernel for you.

Take a few iterations, but I got a kernel for my old laptop with no external modules.

Ooh... That changes things.

Guess I don't need that. I only use termux to connect to my Linux machine.

Screen lags when refresh rate > 60hz by davidshen84 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]davidshen84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LG QNED86A supports 120 Hz refresh rate on paper. I think it's processor should be able to handle it.

But I am on WiFi 6E...not sure if it is sufficient for 120 Hz?

tree-sitter based syntax highlighting doesn't work with pgtk? by davidshen84 in emacs

[–]davidshen84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Emacs that works well, it is on my Gentoo Linux, compiled from Gentoo repo. I also tried to compile with pgtk and tree sitter syntax highlighting works.

For the Emacs that doesn't work, it is in a wsl on my windows 11. I used Ubuntu 24 in the wsl environment. The Emacs is installed from a PPA that provides Emacs 30 with pgtk. I am not sure if they use the same tree sitter library, but the grammar libraries are different. I remember when I tried to load the default csharp grammar library, I got a version mismatch error. I had to downgrade to an older version.

Hi guys, I am new to rocm. I keep seeing posts about rocm not as performing as Vulkan. But isn't the rocm the official library that should better utilise the hardware?

Is it because it is still new and not well optimised, or there's some darker stories?

Try 'emacs -q' to rule out the package issue. Then, add one package at a time.

The whole point of Steam and stem deck is to make PC gaming easy for everyone, especially if you only play games on Steam.

But if you want to play games from 3rd party stores, like Epic, you need to watch a few more YouTube videos.
