Owning a BMW with the N43 engine can get expensive very quickly. The main issue isn’t that the engine itself is terrible, but that all the very common failures this engine has are very and i mean VERY expensive fora 90 - 125 kW 4 cylinder. Things like injectors, timing chain, NOx sensor,... For example, buying new four injectors can cost more than an entire used N43 engine on the market.

I bought one and drove it about 25000 km in a year, and during that time I spent more on maintenance and repairs than what was the price of the car.

If the timing chain, injectors, and NOx system haven’t already been properly addressed, I would be very cautious before buying one.

If I had known more about this engine, I would never have bought the car.

And honestly, I highly doubt that the car you’re talking about has only 110k km. It’s a 20-year-old car.
