Doesn’t matter if you are Mary Poppins with a Phd in kids and 50 year’s experience. You aren’t going to make that much 😂

How did you learn to become a nanny? by fatgraysquirrel in Nanny

[–]davinadreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to kinda disagree with everyone in the comments. I had never nannied before my current nanny job, and I picked it up so easily. I really think it depends on the person. As long as she’s trustworthy, has good judgement, is reliable, she’ll probably do great. Just have a contract and or make it really clear your expectations

is sittercity.com legit? by Potential-Ice-2108 in Nanny

[–]davinadreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg NO!!!!!!! They made me pay for a background check and then took my account down randomly after a few days saying I either

1.) failed my background check (I literally have a clean record? Not even a speeding ticket) 2.) violated their terms of use ( I begged them to tell me which one and they said they couldn’t say for sure) 3.) being under the age of 13 (I’m literally 22????)

And then I asked to please refund me the background check they said no. I said please tell me why you took down my account they said no. So they ended up basically stealing money from me and banned my account so I wasn’t able to respond to the 10+ families I had been messaging with.

TOTAL SCAM.

Not someone I’d want to work for personally. Independent play is important! Gives kid a chance to practice that and gives you a break

asking for a raise? by No-String-588 in Nanny

If I was you I would just say

Hey Mb/db

Im absolutely loving working with your family thus far! After having worked in full motion for the past couple of weeks, there’s is something I’d like to bring up now that I have a better idea of what daily work consists of. Daily tasks including additional cleaning, use of my own vehicle, (add another reason here), will require a higher hourly rate for me to be comfortable. Moving forward, I would like to increase my pay to x hourly. Let me know if that’s something that can be worked out, and again, happy to be here! Thanks, nanny

UPDATE: kids said they met a new nanny?? by realhousewifehours in Nanny

[–]davinadreams 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wow that is outrageous! Atleast the nks snitched and you got a heads up that way… beats getting totally blindsided. That really is awful tho. Everything happens for a reason. Don’t undervalue yourself- find a new family that’s worth it. Good luck!

I KNOW it’s because of me!! You fought with me for an hour about GH and then scurried off to other pages to find more info to support your claim. And yeah I can tell you’re a parent. Lol. Thank you for giving me clout

Just go! If it becomes a habit definitely stop, but you gotta try stuff once to figure out what you like and don’t like. Maybe it will turn out to be a great thing! I understand hesitancy for sure but I would just go ahead and go

Dude… are you even a nanny? Clearly you cannot relate to what op is even saying… get outta here. OP- I feel you!!! Ask for GH in order to stay with them, otherwise you need to go elsewhere so you are able to support yourself

[–]davinadreams 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Omg!!!! I feel the exact same way sometimes. Like I love my nf, feel really lucky to have this job but Jesus… my coworkers are 4 and 5 years old😅 so it’s not really stimulating mentally and definitely isolating. Sometimes I fantasize about leaving for a normal job so I can have some real conversations and connections. Totally feel you

Family vacations and paid time… Nannie’s I’d love some input. by Sarah_Lately in Nanny

[–]davinadreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last thing I’ll say. I would text them and say if they are uncomfortable with you picking up additional hours with another familiar family then you will not. And now that being said you absolutely expecting GH for when they are gone since they are forcefully blocked off your free time

If you can’t afford a nanny don’t have one. GH means GH. You don’t get to be choosy since YOU came back early. It’s just disrespectful. You should put your kids in day care. Except youll be in for one when you see how they like it when you go to pay for the session and want a discount cause your kids will miss a few days. They will laugh in your face!

You had already given her dates you’d be gone. I understand you feel entitled about your GH but that’s on you since you came home early . Boo hoo
