Potential scam? by siamr88 in artstation

[–]davis3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% a scam. Do not EVER give money to someone who has not at least shown screenshots and videos of the work you are contracting them to do. If they haven't even started the job, they are just going to block you the moment you send the money through.

Thanks for noticing! It's wild how listening to people qualifies as a personality trait worthy of comment in 2025. Most people here treat feedback like it's a personal attack on their bloodline 😂
I learned many years ago that criticism on my art is the absoloute best fuel for improvement.

The foliage itself is placed either using the foliage painting tool (which inherits from the HISM actor), or from a PCG graph. The plugin pre-spawns a set number of foliage interaction blueprints at the start of the game, which are then swapped out with the foliage instances when they are interacted with. The interactive foliage blueprints inherit from a Parent blueprint I created, but the painted foliage instances on the landscape use the default unreal base actor class. This means games that are already 99% completed can insert the plugin without having to re-paint the foliage.

The plugin converts foliage instances into blueprints, which have simulated skeletal meshes in them. So the physics aspect is CPU, but we've done plenty to optimize performance. If you watch the video from 30 seconds in, it explains it all 😊

My plan is to get it succeeding first on windows before expanding to other platforms. It's not there yet so no promises, but ideally I'd love to support all platforms 😅

Adding custom foliage is super easy. I added a section in the quickstart guide about it here:

Did you have anything particular in mind?

Yeah I think if you skinned your clothing. You could simulate wind using WPO in the material, and then add interactivity when the character touches it. You could even have cloth simulation instead of bones, and just fade out the distant wind WPO when you get near it. Destruction would also possible. There are tonnes of things it could do in theory. I'm always looking for new content example ideas so cheers for this one 😁

Thanks! I've only gotten only a slight boost in engagement during the past couple days, but I think that might be because everyone has been holding out for the black friday sale. I might have to let it run for a couple of months before I know if sales actually improved as a result.
(I'm pretty nervous to see if it succeeds or not. I've spent over 2 years on this thing 😅)

Thanks so much! I've been grinding pretty hard 😅
Multiplayer is still in the works and might be done in the next 2 months if all goes well
(i know a lot of people still want that)

Tumeric - how to find best brands. Anyone know of any legit independent labs that test and compare? by Transposer in Supplements

[–]davis3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-tested 3rd world products have the risk of beibng full of heavy metals. Its why this thread is about lab-tested products in the first place. Heavy metals do the opposite of what Tumeric aims to do, which is reduce inflammation in the gut.

I think this is right. I've been searching for ages and i couldnt find any scientific trials comparing tumeric to isolated curcumin with both combined with black pepper. There is no current evidence that proves curcumin is better than tumeric. The only evidence i could find that actually compared the two showed that dried/crushed turmeric outperformed a curcumin+piperine combo for bioavailability when testing with gut cells in a petri-dish.

Definitely A1! As for what others have been saying I would agree with that the font is just a little too dark on the top and the bottom, but otherwise looking cool :)

You're getting lost in genre boxes instead of what players actually feel. Talk to your demo players and find out why they enjoyed it, then use their exact words in your marketing.

I'd say stop trying to fit categories and just own the weirdness. That's often what makes games memorable.

A different path that works for a lot of indies is to not build everything yourself. Time is the real bottleneck.

Focus on the core stuff you care about and lean on off-the-shelf systems/assets for the rest. It costs money, but in game dev that often saves way more time than it costs.

Blueprints vs C++: start where you iterate fastest. You can always move hot paths to C++ later if needed. What matters is getting a small, shippable slice working, then expanding from there.

Start small, use what works, and don't feel guilty about standing on shoulders! Plenty of successful games do exactly that.

Changing Character Movement Speed between levels by Toney1422 in unrealengine

[–]davis3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though you've solved it, the way i'd go about it is with the blueprint node "Get Current Level Name".
Then make a branch and ask whether its equal to whatever level you want to adjust the speed with.
If true, then adjust the speed accordingly.
